<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) cadres supporting Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) and Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam (OPS) on Wednesday staged a protest outside the resort in Puducherry where 18 dissident MLAs supporting TTV Dinakaran are staying.MLAs supporting Dhinakaran checked into a seaside Windflower resort in Puducherry on Tuesday evening, after demanding a removal of EPS as Chief Minister.AIADMK cadres burned the effigy of Dhinakaran for opposing the merger and creating trouble for the AIADMK government.On Tuesday, MLAs owing allegiance to sidelined party Deputy General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran met Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, and demanded a change of Chief Minister.They submitted a letter to Governor saying that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has lost their confidence by inducting OPS as deputy CM without consulting them.The MLAs also gave a separate letter to Governor withdrawing support to Chief Minister K Palaniswami government.The leader of the Opposition and DMK working president MK Stalin has also written to Governor urging him to direct Palanisami to prove his majority on the floor of the House.Rival AIADMK factions led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and rebel leader O Panneerselvam on Monday merged, ending a nearly seven-month feud in a power-sharing formula in the ruling party and the government in which the latter was made the deputy chief minister.As the merger brought to an end weeks of suspense during which there was tough negotiations, the two factions said steps would be taken to expel party chief V K Sasikala.The merger facilitated the return of Panneerselvam to the government as Finance minister, isolating Deputy General Secretary T T V Dhinakaran, Sasikala’s nephew, and his camp.Calling each other ‘Annan'(elder brother), both Palaniswami and Panneerselvam described the merger as “historic”.
