A month and a half later, after the death of nearly 22 people in a transformer blast at Khatloai in Viratnagar Tehsil area, the eyes of Jaipur Discom officers still seems to be shut. Due to JVVNL’s ignorance, frequent incidents of same nature are happening in the area. A 55-year-old woman was killed on Sunday morning due to 11 KV current in consumer’s service line at Gulab Bari village in Shahpura Tehsil area. The villagers had alleged that the power line of 11 KV was connected directly to the transformer of the single phase. This led to an accident due to the flowing current of the Hi-Tension line. The angry villagers refused to accept the body of the woman and jammed Ajitgarh-Chomu State highway. Villagers were demanding to remove transformers from the residential areas, Rs 50 lakh compensation and government jobs for the dependent. After talks with SDM (Shahpura), the situation was a bit mild and the funeral was done.As per the villagers, in the electric line of Gulab Badi village, suddenly a Hi Tension current was flowing at 7 in the morning. During this period, Suraj Devi, who was churning curd for butter in her house, got electrocuted, which burnt her severely. The victim was alone at home when the incident took place. Villagers rushed to the spot and informed the cops after which a team reached Gulab Bari and took the body to the government hospital at Shahpura. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members. Agitated locals protested and blocked the Ajitgarh-Chomu state highway near Gula Bari bus stand. The villagers staged a dharna on the road under the leadership of Kisan Parishad’s State President Harinarayan Gathala, former District Council Member Mahendra Chaudhary and Youth Congress leader Praveen Vyas. The villagers refused to take the dead body and asked for the financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the relatives of the deceased, a government job, removing the transformer from the residential area, including the involvement of the deceased’s family in the BPL category. Later, SDM (Shahpura) Ravi Vijay assured to forward the report of the matter to the District Collector. The villagers handed over a memorandum to the SDM in connection with the six-point demands.TWO BLASTS IN A DAYOn same day, another transformer blast occurred in the Khori village of Shahpura on Sunday morning. There was no loss of life due to as the three-phase transformer was kept in a field in Khori village, but the incident has revealed the negligence of JVVNL officials. On hearing the blast noise, the villagers got gathered. and reported the matter to JVVN officials. They have alleged that despite repeated complaints, the authorities did not change the transformer.
