Family of raped minor made to wait for 12 hours for medical aid

After an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Thursday, the family members had to roam around for more than 12 hours to get the medical aid for her. The girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy in a village of Jarcha area of Greater Noida.Narrating the ordeal, the victim’s father said that the girl had gone to play outside the house.”It was getting late for lunch. So my wife went to call her but when she couldn’t find her, she immediately raised an alarm. After searching her for more than two hours, a neighbour found her coming out of a nearby house crying. She was bleeding from her private parts and even had blood stains on her clothes,” said the victim’s mother.Police have arrested the accused and he was sent to a juvenile home on Friday.”She told me that while she was playing, one of the neighbour took her along with him on the pretext of candies. He took her to his house and assaulted her. We immediately informed the police,” the father added.According to the police, the incident took place at around 4 pm when she had gone to play.”The girl has been sent for medical examination. The accused was later arrested. During interrogation, the 15-year-old boy confessed to the crime. The boy was produced before the district court and has been sent to the juvenile home,” said Suniti, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar. However, the family alleged that the police, along with the minor, had to roam around the district for more than 11 hours after which the medical examination was done at 3:30 am on Friday.”First, she was taken to a local hospital in Jarcha where she was denied medical aid due to staff shortage. Then, she was taken to a hospital in Dadri where she was again denied to be admitted because of no medical kit available. Then she was finally rushed to the district hospital in Noida where the officials denied the medical saying there was no female doctor to attend to the minor her and that she should come in the morning,” stated the father.”I have spoken to the CMO about the matter and he has assured me an enquiry in the case,” informed Suniti.

Drive to end encroachment on Noida Expressway

The local administration, along with the Indian Air Force (IAF) officials, conducted a massive anti-encroachment drive against 35 illegal farmhouses spread over several acres of government land, in the Nagla-Nagli village along the Noida Expressway on Wednesday, following an Allahabad High Court (HC) order.According to the IAF officials, they bulldozed unauthorised construction on 40 acres of land in the village. The HC, in July, 2017, had directed the district administration to identify the IAF land allotted decades ago and to initiate criminal proceedings against the accused. Several acres of land was grabbed by colonisers and illegal colonies were developed. The 482-acre land belongs to the Ministry of Defence, given to the IAF for a bombing range in 1950.”Several notices issued were not taken seriously. The encroachers were served show cause notices on November 8 and then eviction notices on December 1. Several encroachers came to the spot after knowing about the eviction drive,” said A K Shrivastava, in-charge of anti-encroachment drive and group captain in the IAF.

PM Modi’s Noida visit: 2 cops suspended for negligence

The multi-layered security, set up specially for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Noida visit, was seriously breached on Monday when when his cavalcade suddenly left the “sanitised” route and took a wrong turn, before being stuck in traffic. The Gautam Budh Nagar police have now suspended a sub-inspector and a constable, for negligence in duty. The PM had come to inaugurate a section of the Magenta Line of Metro.Reportedly, Modi’s security was compromised when his convoy lost its way while heading to the helipad from a public meeting at the Amity University. A departmental inquiry against two other circle officers has also been ordered by the Uttar Pradesh Police. CM Yogi also slammed the senior police officers for this mishap.According to the police, the two cops have been identified as sub-inspector Dilip Singh, posted at Dankaur police station, and constable Dayanand. The convoy in which Modi was travelling, along with the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, lost its way on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, while going to helipad at the Botanical Garden from the Amity University. The other two circle officers against whom a departmental inquiry has been ordered have been identified as Sanjeev Deshwaal and Ram Karan Singh of Meerut.”The troop of VIP vehicles left the Amity University at 2.35 pm and used the service road at the Expressway to proceed towards Botanical Garden, from where the PM was supposed to board his plane. One of the security vehicles that was directing the troop took a turn before the designated one. There was no security arrangement on that path,” said Luv Kumar Singh, Senior Superintendent Of Police, Gautam Budh Nagar.Police said this is considered a security breach and two police officers have been pulled up for the same.”The VVIP troop was caught in a traffic snarl at the Mahamaya flyover. Also, a motorcycle and a bus came very close to the fleet. After being stuck in the jam for three minutes, the convoy proceeded and the police officers rushed to the spot to clear the bottleneck,” Kumar added. On Monday, PM Modi flagged off the much-awaited Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line, connecting Noida to south Delhi. The PM boarded the Metro train at the Botanical station and deboarded at Okhla Bird Sanctuary station.CM Adityanath accompanied the PM during the maiden trip on the Magenta Line. BJP member Mahendra Nath Pandey and state governor Ram Naik also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Noida sisters’ death suicide: Post-mortem

Post mortem reports of the two teengaged girls found hanged in Barola village, Noida, suggest that their death is a case of suicide, not murder. Preliminary investigations suggested this to be a case of honour killing.Following a complaint made by the father, the Gautam Budh Nagar police registered an FIR against three relatives, accusing them of killing his daughters, police said. The girls were found hanging outside their house in Barola village, Sector 49 on Tuesday morning. They were aged 13 and 18. According to post-mortem reports, which were out late on Tuesday night, death was caused by hanging and no other injury marks were found on the body.”Prima Facie, it looked like a case of suicide,” said Luv Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar. “Besides a mark from the noose, no other injury marks were found on the bodies. An FIR has been lodged against Ravi, his father and uncle under Section 302 for the murder, sections 504 and 507 of the Indian Penal Code.”The mother of the girls had said her elder daughter was in love with their distant relative Ravi and the two had eloped recently. They were coerced to return by their family.Police say that though the family insisted the girls were murdered, there were gaps in their narration of the sequence of events. It suggested that they were hiding some things. “The family said that the door of their one-room set was bolted from outside; they made no attempt to open it from the only window of the room — which is right next to the door. The phone which the father had broken a day earlier was also not found,” said a senior police officer.Neighbours said none of the family members responded despite the many of them shouting when the girls’ bodies were found. While the police is convinced of the suicide theory, they are now working out the reason behind the suicide. They had detained the father for questioning. “During interrogation, he said a few days ago, two men from Ravi’s family had come to their house, searching for Ravi. Then on Monday, the father broke his daughter’s phone in anger. The younger daughter was close to her elder sister,” a senior police officer said.

Yogi Aditynath breaks ‘jinx’, visits Noida with PM Modi to inaugurate new line

When 45-year-old, saffron-clad, UP chief minister Yogi Aditynath made successive visits to Noida this week, he broke a superstition that goes back all the way to 1988.UP CM Vir Bahadur Singh of Congress was firmly ensconced in his seat. He visited Noida in 1988 and then lost power within days. The theory of a jinx took hold and has believed by politicos ever since.BSP chief Mayawati tried to break the jinx when she visited Noida four times as the chief minister. But then she lost the 2012 Assembly election and one of the factors held responsible for the defeat was the ‘Noida jinx’.The fear of a jinx became so strong that during his entire five-year term, the then CM Akhilesh Yadav stayed away from the area. The situation was all the more ironic as Akhilesh was considered the modern face of the Samajwadi Party (SP). Throughout his tenure, he used video calls to inaugurate or launch projects in Noida and Greater Noida and never visited any of these two regions. In August 2012, Akhilesh inaugurated the Yamuna Expressway from Lucknow and avoided travelling to Noida. The following year as well, he inaugurated many infrastructural projects in Gautam Budh Nagar without visiting the city.In April 2016, Akhilesh skipped two events in Noida, which were attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee. Before the 2017 Assembly polls in UP, Akhilesh had, in December 2016, launched several development projects in Noida through videoconferencing. He finally did set his foot in Noida but only in June this year, when he was no more the CM. He made a brief stopover in Noida while he travelling to Delhi from his family pocketborough, Saifai in UP.Yogi Adityanath, who shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday during the inauguration of the Magenta Line, became the first CM to do after years.

Samajwadi Party workers protest at station, slam PM Modi, CM Yogi Adityanath for taking credit

Nearly 200 workers of the Samajwadi Party (SP) stormed into the Botanical Garden Metro station in Noida on Monday and boarded a train as a mark of protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for taking all the credit for the newly inaugurated Magenta Line. The line was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath.Nearly a 100 SP workers led by party leader Surendra Singh Nagar reached the Metro station in the evening to stage the protest. They alleged that the work on the project was started by former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, but the PM and the present CM were taking credit for it.”We travelled by Metro train to Kalindi Kunj and returned and told people that the Magenta Line was started by the SP government. Instead taking full credit, the current government should have praised Yadav for the gift of Metro that he gave to the people,” Nagar said.On Monday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi Metro Magenta Line, which connects Noida to Kalkaji Temple. The PM was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who made his maiden visit to Noida and broke the much-hyped “jinx”of CMs not visiting the district.

1,000 homebuyers stage protest, stopped from taking out march

Around 1,000 Noida homebuyers staged a silent protest against the Noida Authority and the UP government at Sector 18 on Monday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Noida for inauguration of the Magenta Metro rail link. The homebuyers, who are yet to get the possession of their flats in projects such as Jaypee Wish Town Noida, Amrapali, Supertech, and Unitech, gathered near Sector 18 Metro station, from where they were to march towards the Botanical Garden Metro station and the Amity University in Sector 125. They were, however, stopped by the police at the Sector 18 Metro station. Some people still managed to reach the Amity ground in bits and pieces. “We have reached out to all officials and the state government but nothing has been done. So, we planned to communicate our plight to PM Modi. We were stopped by the police, which is a shame for us. As citizens, we cannot make our voices heard,” said Shweta Bharti, General Secretary of the Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA).Meanwhile, on Saturday, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath had met the distressed homebuyers and pulled up the Noida Authority for lapses in handling of the matter. Adityanath had directed officials to hand over 40,000 flats by December 31, while another 40,000 have to be handed over by March. The UP CM also asked the Noida Authority to draw up a list of defaulter builders, categorising them as per their position — those who will be able to deliver the flats on time, those who would need help of co-developers to finish their projects, and those who won’t be able to complete their projects at all.The irked homebuyers, however, termed Adityanath’s promise of delivery of 80,000 homes in Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway areas by March-end an “eyewash” and demanded that the government come up with an action plan for projects.”We want the PM to intervene. The co-developer policy should be implemented. The units that have been delivered in Noida or are about to be delivered do not have the occupancy or completion certificates,” Bharti said. The protesters pointed out that despite several assurances and various announcements, nothing much has changed on the ground. It was also pointed out that despite a committee being set up to resolve the homebuyers’ issues, nothing has happened. Some other buyers alleged that even the much-touted RERA did not bring them any relief. “The Central government-notified RERA should be implemented in letter and in spirit, and no dilution should be done by the state government,” they said.According to members of the association, during the UP elections, the BJP candidates had promised flat buyers of GB Nagar that they would be given all possible support in securing possession of the homes. But after the BJP victory, the politicians forgot about the homebuyers, the protesters alleged. As many as 94 projects in Noida and nearly 190 projects in Greater Noida are stuck due to financial reasons. In a high-level meeting held in September this year, UP CM had ordered the officials to ensure that 50,000 homebuyers got their homes in Noida and Greater Noida. On December 4, a ministerial panel, during the course of a meeting with builders and officials of the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), had declared that 32,500 flats would be delivered by the end of this month.

They said repeated sanitisation of the to-be-inaugurated Metro line was carried out with the help of dog squads and anti-sabotage teams.”Armed Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and commandos were deployed along the line for immediate reaction to any possible mishap. PM Modi takes a driverless Metro ride on Magenta Line

Scores of locals swarmed the Botanical Garden Metro station in Noida on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived to inaugurate the much awaited Magenta Line.Breaking the infamous “Noida jinx”, Modi arrived with UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, whose predecessors have always avoided visiting the state’s urban hub as it is widely believed that whoever visits Noida loses power. The PM inaugurated a section of the Magenta Line and even took a ride in the new driverless Metro around 1 pm. He was accompanied by Adityanath and UP governor Ram Naik. Amid heavy security, the trio travelled from Botanical Garden to Okhla. The PM then reached the Amity University ground to address the public. The Metro was ready for public use from 5 pm onwards.Talking to DNA, Ambrish Kuhar, a government employee and a resident of Noida Sector 37, said the Magenta Line was an answer to their long pending prayers. “It was so cumbersome going all the way to Mandi House and then boarding Violet Line to reach south Delhi. The new route will ease our commuting woes,” he said.Echoing the sentiment, Himanshu Kukreja, who lives in East of Kailash and works with an MNC in Noida, said: “I am very relieved that the travel time to my office and home will be lesser with this new train. It was long overdue.”The 12.64 km Magenta Line will connect Noida to Kalkaji Mandir and will be extended till Janakpuri by March next year. The stretch runs between Kalkaji and Noida’s Botanical Garden and would cut the travel time to 19 minutes, thus facilitating easy access for commuters from south Delhi to Noida and vice versa. The Magenta Line has automated platform screen doors at every station, which will open only when the trains arrive at the platform. The coaches will reportedly have LED display, power charging capacity, and colourful seats, while the stations will portray themes of nature, yoga, and cultural landmarks.Further, the driverless trains will be run on Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling technology, which will facilitate the movement of trains with a frequency of 90 to 100 seconds. The new trains will also offer lumbar support and backrests near the wheelchair areas, so that even if a commuter is standing, he or she can do so comfortably. While most Metro trains have power outlets, the new trains on the Magenta Line will also feature USB ports to connect phone charging cables directly, without a power adapter. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has stated that trains on the Magenta Line will have Wi-Fi connectivity for seamless internet browsing. This feature, however, may not be available immediately, the officials added. Besides all this, fully programmable LCD screens will display videos, graphics, and other information on the trains.YOGA THEMEThe Magenta Line has automated platform screen doors at every station, which will open only when the trains arrive at the platform. PM Modi pitches for infra, transport

Launching a 12-km stretch of Delhi Metro’s newly built Magenta Line, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly pitched for use of public transport and took potshots at previous Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh for not visiting Noida due to superstition.Flagging the importance of connectivity, the PM said on Monday that the Metro line is not only for the present but also for future generations, and emphasised the need to reduce petrol imports by increasing the use of state-of-the-art mass transit systems.Modi did not name either SP’s Akhilesh Yadav or BSP’s Mayawati but lauded UP CM Yogi Adityanath for breaking the Noida jinx. “Due to his dress, some people find it fashionable to believe that CM Yogi Adityanath is not ‘modern enough’ but what he has done today is something which was never done by any of the previous CMs of Uttar Pradesh. Faith is important but blind faith is not desirable,” the Prime Minster said.Adityanath, sharing the dais with the Prime Minister, was all smiles as the latter praised him.Modi also slammed previous Chief Ministers for their “corrupt” activities and alleged they were only “spreading superstition” about political leaders losing power if they visited Noida.”If anybody thinks not going to a place will prolong their CM tenure and visiting a place will curtail it, such a person does not deserve to be a Chief Minister. Unfortunately, there were superstitions associated with Noida and in his own style, Yogi Adityanath has risen above it,” he said.Adityanath’s chief ministerial visits to Noida came eight years after the last by then CM Mayawati. Before the 2012 UP polls, she had visited Noida and the BSP had lost. Her successor Akhilesh Yadav never visited Noida and skipped inaugurating a key development project’s inauguration just before the Assembly polls in UP early this year. Samajwadi Party, however, lost the elections. The Prime Minister recalled that when he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, people told him about a few inauspicious places, but he was clear that he would go there in the first year itself.”Driven by blind faith and superstition, leaders never went to places for decades. How unfortunate is that,” Modi said, reminding that he remained Chief Minister for four terms in Gujarat.Pitching for use of public transport to save on fuel and petroleum import costs, the Prime Minister said travelling on a Metro train should be a “prestige” issue.Lamenting that development is seen through the prism of politics based on the interest of parties many times, the Prime Minister said governance cannot happen when the dominant thought process begins at ‘Mera Kya’ and ends at ‘Mujhe Kya.'”We have changed these mindsets. For us, decisions are about national interest and not political gains,” he said. Countering the allegations of Opposition parties that his government was not working for the poor, Modi said, “the top ten industrialists would not travel on Metro. You will”.Terming NDA’s first Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee the ‘Bharat Marg Vidhata, the Prime Minister said that it was on December 24 in 2002 when he took a ride on Metro and since then, the Metro network in NCR has expanded considerably. He said that the work on railway infrastructure and road network expansion are happening at a historic pace under the NDA government, and that the country is making strides in the renewable energy sector.

Police, local bodies involved in Ashram activities: Residents

The tale of the Rohini-based Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya ashram got murkier on Sunday, with the locals claiming that the police and the local bodies were also involved in the exploitation of women and girls. They said that despite several complaints, the police failed to take any action against the ashram, and said it was impossible that the local bodies’ members didn’t know anything about the suspicious activities going inside the ashram.” We are sure that the local bodies are involved in running this ashram, where illegal activities had been taking place for so many years. Despite complaints and families of the victims shouting on the roads, the ashram authorities did not let them meet their daughters. Why was no action taken then? Why didn’t anybody raid the ashram?” asked Naresh Saini, a resident of Vijay Nagar in Rohini.Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has requested Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal to intervene and ensure safety of the girls who were recently rescued from the ashram, run by self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dikshit. He has also slammed the BJP government and alleged that a nexus between the police and certain BJP leaders was behind these activities in controversial ashrams. BJP has rejected all such allegations.Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said the party followed Indian culture but respected all religions and spiritual leaders. “Trying to associate the party’s name with the ashram, however, is shameful. The party has no association with the ashram’s activities,” he said.Kejriwal tweeted: “I urge Hon’ble L-G to personally intervene and ensure strict action against the ashram and ensure safety of rescued girls. If any policeman acts malafide, strict action should be taken against him.”Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh demanded the arrest of Dixit. As many 46 girls have been rescued from two ashrams in Dwarka and Rohini. “The so-called godman has not been arrested and many of his ashrams are still unknown,” Singh said.

Yogi Adityanath meets distressed homebuyers, promises quick action

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met distressed homebuyers and pulled up Noida Authority for lapses in the handling of the matter. Adityanath has directed officials to hand over 40,000 flats by December 31, while another 40,000 to be handed over by March, 2018.The UP CM also asked the Noida Authority to draw up a list of defaulter builders categorising them as per their position on the properties — one, who will be able to deliver the flats on time; two, those who need help of co-developers to complete their projects; three, those who won’t be able to complete their projects.Adityanath met distressed homebuyers at Amity University where officials of all the three authorities — Noida authority, Greater Noida Authority, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority were present along with the heads of many home buyers’ associations.During the meeting, the distressed homebuyers kept their issues in front of Yogi and he made a note of all of them. After this, he promised the homebuyers that the 40,000 flats will be handed over to the buyers December 31, while another 40,000 would be handed over by March 31.However, the homebuyers were not satisfied with the promises made as they said the CM needed to check the ground reality. The buyers invovled in different projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway — such as Jaypee, Amrapali, Supertech, Unitech, Pan Oasis — also announced that they will protest against the government on Sunday at the Film City in Sector 16A.According to members of the association, during the UP elections, BJP candidates had promised flat buyers of GB Nagar that they would be giving all possible support in securing possession of homes. But, they alleged, after the BJP victory in the UP elections nothing was done for them.”We have been getting such promises from the past many years but no work on the ground has been done. All the people are just coming and giving hope but nothing is done. We are left hopeless,”said Shweta Bharti, General Secretary, NEFOWA (Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association). The UP CM also attacked previous state governments saying that all corruption had been done in their era, but the BJP government was working for the benefit of the people. He further directed the authorities to hand over a list to the three-minister panel of the builders categorising them into three lists so that they knew who needed help and against whom do they have to take action.Ninety-four projects in Noida and around 190 projects in Greater Noida are stuck owing to financial reasons. In a high-level meeting held in September this year, UP chief minister ordered officials to ensure that 50,000 homebuyers got their homes in Noida and Greater Noida areas. On December 4, the ministerial panel — during the course of a meeting with builders and officials of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) — had declared that 32,500 flats would be delivered by the end of this month.NO HOMESAs many as 1.6 lakh homes are delayed in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway put together and homebuyers who are burdened withboth equated monthly instalments and rent said that delivery of flats being promised by authorities comprise projects that were, in any case, nearing completion and do not include the big builders in Noida, whose projects have been delayed for years or against whom insolvency proceedings are currently on. None of those projects have been revived.

Rohini Ashram case: Locals claim they knew ‘suspicious activities’ were going on

A day after the Delhi High court ordered an inquiry, locals have claimed they always suspected ‘suspicious’ activities going on inside the Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya ashram located in Vijay Nagar, Rohini. They claimed that despite several complaints the police failed to take any action.According to locals, they have spotted people screaming and shouting outside the ashram. They alleged that the ashram was “brain-washing girls” so that they would not recognise their own families.”I have been living in this area for the past 10 years and what I have witnessed is that there are families of the victims coming and shouting on the road against the saint as the ashram does not let the families meet their daughters. They say that their daughters have been drugged ensuring that they fail to recognise their families. This has happened quite often,” said Vijay Sharma, a resident of Rohini.Thirty nine-year-old Naresh Saini stated he had lived inside the ashram for one and a half months but left as he suspected some strange activities were going on there. Saini said that he had never seen the saint Virender Dev Dixit who allegedly was involved in the rape and suicides of girls living inside his ashram.”Whenever, I went inside the ashram, I was directly taken to the third floor and they used to play spiritual tunes on a screen. We were not allowed to roam freely. While living there, I always felt that someone was keeping an eye on me,” said Saini. He added that he noticed everyone was not allowed to go inside the ashram directly. His suspicions were also further raised when he heard a saint asking many female devotees to go for to camps in Farrukhabad where they had other ashrams.” I have always spotted a black safari car carrying only females coming to the ashram at least thrice a day and most of the time the car used to come during late hours. I have never seen a women coming out of the house as their faces are covered,” Saini added. On Wednesday, there was heavy police force outside the ashram. Yogi Adityanath may finally break ‘Noida jinx’ by joining PM Modi there on Dec 25

Almost all Indians are superstitious by nature but none more so than politicians. Given the precarious nature of power almost every politician has a superstition that does not change over time. In fact, if anything, it increases till it turns into their minds as “fact.” This is the case of the self-imposed ban by many UP politicians on visiting Noida. Whether it has been the BJP, Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or Samajwadi Party (SP), all UP chief ministers have avoided visiting this area, as it is believed that whoever did so would lose power. This powerful jinx though may see its end with the current BJP dispensation. According to sources, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may visit Noida for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the Magenta line of the Delhi Metro which goes from Botanical Garden to Kalkaji. If the Chief Minister really does do so it may finally signal the end of the jinx.If Adityanath really does break this jinx he will be breaking a superstition that goes back all the way to 1988 (see box). In 1988 then UP Chief Minister Vir Bahadur Singh lost power days after visiting Noida. The theory of a jinx then took hold and has held firm since then. BSP leader Mayawati did try to break the jinx when she visited Noida four times as chief minister. However, she lost the 2012 assembly election, and one of the factors that was blamed was the ‘Noida jinx.’The fear of a jinx was so strong, that during his entire five-year term, then CM Akhilesh Yadav stayed away from the area. This fear was all the more ironic as Akhilesh was considered the modern face of the Samajwadi Party. But while he may have used video calls to inaugurate or launch projects in Noida and Greater Noida, he never visited. In August 2012, Akhilesh inaugurated the Yamuna Expressway from Lucknow and avoided travelling to Noida. The following year too, he inaugurated many infrastructure projects in Gautam Budh Nagar without visiting the city. But the fact that Akhilesh stayed away from Noida but still lost the election may help the current UP CM make up his mind. In any case, he still has a few days to decide. Prime Minister Modi’s Noida visit is only on December 25.However, people around Adityanath believe that he will break the jinx and visit Noida. Says a source, “Yogi is a modern age leader and does not believe in any superstition.” The proof of that will be seen on December 25.UP CMS & THE NOIDA JINX1988 Vir Bahadur Singh lost power days after visiting Noida. 1989 ND Tiwari lost power after visiting Noida 1995 Mulayam Singh was out of power within months of his Noida visit.1997 Mayawati lost power after visiting Noida. 1999 Kalyan Singh lost power after visiting Noida 2001 Rajnath Singh inaugurated the DND flyover from Delhi.2012 Mayawati went to Noida in October 2011 to inaugurate the memorial Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal. She lost the 2012 Assembly Elections.

Sources revealed that the district administration shall forward such information to CBSE Board if the schools fail to comply with the directives.Parents across Delhi-NCR have been demanding better security measures on school premises and in buses following the murder of an eight-year-old student at Ryan International School, Bhondsi, Gurgaon in September this year. In response to this, the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate had issued two deadlines, one of September 30 and another of October 10, to all schools in the district to fix security loopholes and submit a memorandum.”We have been working hard for the security of the students as well as in gaining the confidence of the parents following the recent tragedy (Pradyuman’s death). We had already served two notices earlier to all private schools in the district. This time the compliance report will be submitted to the CBSE Board, thereafter the school authorities will be solely responsible for any action,” said Singh.According to district information system for education report (2016), there are 821 private schools in Gautam Budh Nagar. Noida, Greater Noida don’t need a municipal corporation

Noida and Greater Noida do not have their own municipal corporations. This is despite the fact that the Industrial Development Act of 1976 mandated that every city must have a municipal corporation of its own. What’s even more surprising is that the two cities, located in Gautam Budh Nagar district, may still not get their own municipal corporations, as stakeholders, at a meeting convened by the Noida Authority on Saturday, concluded that the two cities did not need them. The stakeholders comprised members of the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA), Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Associations (CONRWA), Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) and various MLAs. Most of them felt that Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority authorities were working well enough to maintain the city.According to Meerut Commissioner Prabhat Kumar, most of the suggestions declined the need for a municipal corporation for GB Nagar. Instead, he said, people wanted civic bylaws to be put in place to fix the accountability of residents and the Authority towards the city.“The majority of stakeholders in GB Nagar do not want a separate municipal body,” Kumar said The Meerut Commissioner had been appointed to look into this matter when on September 4 this year, the GB Nagar district magistrate BN Singh recommended that the municipal functions be withdrawn from the purview of Noida Authority and handed over to the Uttar Pradesh government. In October, a public notice was issued, inviting all stakeholders to submit their views on the matter. Thereafter, a government committee including BN Singh, GB Nagar district magistrate; RK Mishra, additional CEO of Noida Authority; BK Tripathi, additional CEO of Greater Noida, VP Pathak, chief law adviser of Noida Authority and CP Singh, municipal commissioner of Ghaziabad, was set up under the leadership of Prabhat Kumar, commissioner of Meerut. Kumar is now the in-charge on this matterOn other issues raised in the meeting, Kumar said they also received suggestions on parking issues and the need for a railway station in GB Nagar and an IIT college in Yamuna Expressway. No corp in noidaThe Industrial Development Act of 1976 mandated that every city must have a municipal corporation of its own.At a meeting convened by the Noida Authority, stakeholders concluded that Noida and Greater Noida did not need one.

Plaints on Noida’s stray dog menace fall on deaf ears

While the stray animal menace tops the civic woes of residents across the city, residents of Noida also are no stranger to the problem. In fact, they are now claiming that the number of cases of attacks by dog have gone up and despite repeated complaints, the Noida Authority refuses to even acknowledge the scenario.”We have been continuously holding meetings in the society campus against the nuisance being created by street dogs. We have knocked the doors of the Authority to take this matter seriously. They always take a written statement form us but do not act on it,” said AN Dhawan, secretary, Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA).According to the police, they are just helpless as when some residents register a complaint about the nuisance, some dog lovers cross register another FIR.”Last month, while shopping in Sector 37, my wife had to face a stray dog attack. She fell and broke her arm, and had to be taken for surgery. Ever since, I have been following the issue of sterilisation of street dogs with the Noida Authority, but nothing is really happening on that front,” said PR Chandna, RWA secretary of Mecon Apartments in Sector 62.Currently, according to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, you can get away with being cruel to most animals by paying a fine of anything between Rs 10 and Rs 50 in India. For repeat offenders, the penalty may go up to anything between Rs 25 and Rs 100. You could also be thrown in jail for three months. But that’s about it.”Every sector has about 20 stray dogs. This number should be checked,” a resident said.According to the chief veterinary officer (CVO) of Gautam Budh Nagar, routine sterilisation of stray dogs is very important in all urban and rural areas to control their burgeoning population. Also, it calms them down and prevents them from getting violent with other dogs and humans.Noida has an estimated 13,600 stray dogs, and the mating season, when they get territorial and aggressive, is from August to December. This has got the animal lovers worried. On September 26 this year, the Noida Authority appointed Delhi-based Dr Chawla’s Pet Hospital for the sterilisation project.Dr Nischal Chaudhary, a vet at the shelter in Sector 94, said the sterilisation drive had begun in October. “The Noida Authority asked us to sterilise at least 25 stray dogs every day, and so far, we have operated on 380 dogs. The dogs are kept in the hospital for about seven days for post-surgery care. After that, they are released in their home territory,” he added.Only time will tell whether this sterilisation drive will help normalise the man-animal conflict in the city.

Recently, he had become immune to the scolding as well.”They recalled how one day, when he was in Class VIII, the boy stabbed a pen into a wooden desk with brutal force and looked very satisfied after that,” the officer added.Police said the boy was not doing well academically and in view of his poor performance, his teachers made him study Computers instead of maths. On Tuesday night, the mother-daughter duo was found murdered in their Greater Noida flat in the 11th avenue of Gaur City-2. The incident came to light when the boy’s father, who was out of town for work, asked his relatives to check on his family as no one was answering his calls. On Saturday, the boy confessed to killing his mother and sister after he was taken into custody by the Gautam Budh Nagar police. ‘Criminal Game’ may have caused son to murder mum, sis

Believe it or not but a “game” may have been the reason for the deadly crime of mother and daughter. According to police officials, the mother-daughter duo in Greater Noida, were murdered due a real life “crime game” being played by their 16-year-old son, who remains to be at large and is the prime suspect in the case.Speaking to DNA, the father of the prime accused has revealed that the teenager who is suspected of killing his mother and sister was hooked to an online game called “High School Gangster” “as the game had different task like causing hurt or injuring someone.”He used to spend hours playing this game. I had started seeing a change in his attitude from quite a long time and his grades were also going down. In September, I had to take away his cell phone and had severely reprimanded him,” said Soumya Agarwal, the accused boy’s father.According to the police, the boy was hooked on to the game and could harm other people under the influence of the game. The content of the games are stated as ‘extremely violent’ as mentioned in the game information of the play store. He further stated that if his son is found to have committed the murder also, he should not be held guilty as he thinks that he would have been influenced by a game which he had been playing for quite a while time now rather the police should arrest the game developer and not his son. However, he alleged that the crime has been committed by some professionals and his 16-year-old son has been kidnapped. They said the family of six was a happy one and there were no problems.”The murders were well executed as the accused has not left any clue. It seems that the mother and daughter were sleeping when they were murdered,” Agarwal added.”This game highlights escaping high school! It’s not a romantic high school love story.”Sneak out of this HighSchool is a violent video game which highlights escaping high school! It’s not a romantic high school love story at all. It is like a prisoner who is looking to escape jail. There are security cameras to monitor every crime move, as he grab weapons to hit and kill security guards. Killing, robbing, stealing, destroying things is a part of this game’s highlights Killing, rubbing, stealing, destroying things is a part of this game.””The boy shared a strong bond with his mother and sister. The case is shrouded in mystery and those investigating the matter should focus on saving the boy’s life, who we believe is also under threat,” said Agarwal.CASE BACKGROUNDOn Tuesday night, a mother-daughter duo were found dead with multiple stab wounds on their bodies at their residence in the Gaur City area of Greater Noida.

Meet Babli, the first trans legal consultant of Delhi High Court

Soon after realising her sexual orientation, 23-year-old Babli left her family in 2010, to save her kin from “public shaming”. Seven years down the line, she has made everyone proud after becoming the first transgender person to become a legal consultant of the Delhi High Court.Babli, hailing from Badaun in UP, started working on a project with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority five months ago, after which she was selected for the post. The journey, however, was not easy. Mental torture and harassment were a regular affair for her.”My family has always been very supportive of me and my sexual orientation. But, this didn’t stop the jibes from the neighbours and relatives, that would haunt me daily. When things went out of line, I decided to leave the house. I consulted a trans friend of mine, who had been working as an orchestra dancer, and decided to join them to earn a living,” Babli said. One day, while she was on a tour with her orchestra team, she saw a person beating a trans and it was on that day that she realised she wants to become the voice of the community.”After returning from the tour, I decided to leave the orchestra. I joined a non-governmental organisation, Pahel, to study. There was no looking back thereafter. Though it was not easy initially, I found ways to work around my hurdles. I used to wake up early to cope with others, as I had missed a lot of early schooling,” added Babli. Finally, after toiling day and night, she secured a government job at the Delhi High Court in September. But, what haunts her still is the kind of treatment usually meted out to transgender people.”I know the world sees us differently, but, at the end, we are humans, too. I still do not understand why people see us as untouchables. This was not something we chose. People should treat us equally; we have done no wrong. We are all creations of God. I have also worked with the Delhi Traffic Police in various campaigns creating awareness about traffic rules and believe in doing a lot of social work in the future, too,” she said.Babli now lives a life of respect and proudly identifies herself as a transgender person. The only thing, she says, missing in her life, is her family.

Seven years down the line, she has done everyone proud after becoming the first transgender person to get a post of a legal consultant with the Delhi High Court.Babli, hailing from Badaun in UP, started working on a project with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority five months back, after which she was selected for the post but the journey till now was not easy.Daily mental torture and harassment was a regular feature for her throughout her struggling days. Also readTransgender, denied job as cabin crew in Air India, moves Supreme Court “Ever since I was conscious of my sexual orientation, my family had been very supportive of me. But the jibes from neighbours and relatives were something that always haunted me. When things crossed a limit, it was then that I decided to leave the house. I consulted a trans friend of mine, who had been working as orchestra dancer, so I decided to join them to earn money,” narrated Babli. One day, while she was on a tour with her orchestra team, she saw a person beating a trans and it was on that day that she realised she would study and work hard to become somebody different and make her community proud. Also readConsider accommodating transgender officer: Delhi High Court“After returning from the tour, I decided to leave the orchestra. I joined a non-governmental organisation, Pahel, to study. Thereafter, there was no looking back for me. Initially, it was not easy but as they say‘where there’s a will there’s a way’. I used to wake up early to cope up with others as I had missed a lot of early schooling,” added Babli. Finally, after working day and night, she got a government job in the Delhi High Court in September. But she still feels bad about the treatment meted out to transgender people.“I know the world sees us differently but at the end, we are human too. I still do not understand why people see us as untouchables. This was not a choice but God has made us like this. People should treat us equally as we have done no harm to them. I have also worked with the Delhi Traffic Police in various campaigns for creating awareness about traffic rules and believe in doing a lot of social work,” she added. Now, Babli lives a life of respect and proudly identifies herself a transgender person. The only thing, she says, missing in her life now is her family.

Buyers protest outside BJP office

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Hundreds of buyers who had invested in different residential projects of the Amrapali Group, Supertech, Jaypee, and many others in Noida and Greater Noida staged a protest outside the BJP office at Ashoka Road in New Delhi on Saturday.Shouting slogans the buyers demanded answers from the government as to how and when they would get their houses. Police detained the protesters for three hours. The flat buyers claimed that during elections a number of BJP candidates had promised homebuyers of Gautam Buddha Nagar that they would give them all possible assistance in securing possession. However, they alleged that nothing has been done about it yet.”We have met with state and central ministers several times and returned with verbal assurances that have not been manifested in deeds till date. I have lost all hopes of getting my dream house,” said Kamal Kaushal, a buyer.Currently, there are around 95 projects in Noida and around 190 projects in Greater Noida which are stuck due to the financial crunch.Shweta Bharti, General Secretary of Noida Extension Flat Owners’ Welfare Association (NEFOWA) said that the primary demand of the buyers was the change in the definition of ongoing projects in the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulation and Development (RERA) rules.”The Central RERA says that a project is to be considered ‘ongoing’ until the possession of flats in it starts. However, the state RERA differs, saying that if a builder has applied for a completion or an occupancy certificate, the project will not be considered ‘ongoing’. Noida and Greater Noida authorities have even issued certificates to some projects without proper inspection,”she said.BUYERS’ DEMANDSIf construction work of any builder is delayed or stopped, the local government body should step in to complete it.
When complaints are lodged against builders, action should be taken by the authorities. Further, if the authorities slacken on this mandate, the government should take action on the officiating authorities.
