<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>A Delhi Police team has arrested two infamous men, popular as ‘Jai-Veeru’- famous characters from Bollywood blockbuster Sholay – and recovered from them thirteen auto-rickshaws that they had been stolen from across the National Capital Region (NCR).The duo, residents of Shiv Park area in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, was identified as Jamshed Alam alias Monu (18) and Irshad (21). Both Alam and Irshad are school dropouts and started off with petty offences, in order to earn easy money and live a lavish life. DCP south, Ishwar Singh said that in order to prevent incidents of vehicle theft in the area, a police team of special staff led by Inspector Jeet Singh received secret information about the movement of a gang involved in the theft of three-wheeler scooter rickshaws (TSRs).“The information was further developed and a trap was laid to nab the two suspects, identified as Jamshed and Irshad. They were arrested and a stolen two-wheeler was recovered from them. Further, on their instance, 13 auto-rickshaws stolen from different areas in Gurgaon and Delhi were also recovered,” Singh informed. During interrogation, Jai and Veeru confessed to having committed crimes, including vehicle theft in NCR. “Both of them are good friends and inspired by a famous Hindi movie‘Sholay’, both are known as Jai and Veeru in the locality, the protagonists of the movie. Initially, both were driving auto-rickshaw on rent to earn money. Later, they planned to steal auto-rickshaws from Gurgaon, Faridabad and Delhi in order to earn quick money by giving them on rent on daily basis,” the DCP said. They used to ply the stolen auto-rickshaws only in the local areas of Sangam Vihar, Devli and Khanpur to avoid checking by police on main roads.
