<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>In a major relief for deputy inspector general (DIG- Prisons) Swati Sathe, a state government probe has found there was no criminality in her WhatsApp posts expressing sympathies and drumming up support for jail officials accused of killing a woman inmate in the Byculla prison. Sathe was the investigating officer in the case.Sources, however, said the report had concluded that Sathe’s posts were made in an emotional state of mind and should not be repeated in the future with it being left to the “appropriate authorities,” namely the Maharashtra prison department to suggest action.A senior home department official said the report, which was submitted to the state government last week, found that “there was no criminality” in the social media posts by Sathe.”This cannot be called a clean chit. She did this in an emotional state, which should not happen in the future… the appropriate authority will suggest action,” added another official stating that “the facts have been communicated to the government.”
