The ghoomar dance in costume and steps similar to Deepika Padukone by Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav has not gone well with the Shri Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS) in Rajasthan. The outfit will send CDs of authentic ghoomar dance to her father who the SRKS says is a Rajput and supports their demand for ban on Padmavati. “She is a daughter of a Rajput, and one who supports us. Further she is in public life. She should not be offending the sentiments of the community in this way,” said Lokendra Singh Kalvi, patron of SRKS, speaking to DNA. The issue is not about Rajasthan anymore. We have massive support for our cause in several states, including UP. If Aparna wants to play long innings in politics she should learn to understand where public sentiment is inclined,” added Kalvi. The SRKS is also up in arms against former tourism minister and film artist Bina Kak for supporting Padmavati and ridiculing their opposition to the film. A video of Kak at her farmhouse in Sumerpur has gone viral and SRKS is objecting to her making the Padmavati issue seem frivolous. The SRKS has in no uncertain terms reminded Kak that her victory from Sumerpur seat in Pali is dependent on Rajput votes.“Bina Kak will have to pay for what she has said. Rajputs are her biggest supporters and their votes play a big role in her victory. We will show our ire in the coming polls. We have started communicating this to our people in Sumerpur,” said Mahipal Singh Makrana, president SRKS.Kak has played Salman Khan’s mother in the film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and has also been a part of a few other movies. Her daughter Amrita sang the song “Just Chill”. The SRKS is taking Kak’s comments against the film as an appeasement to Bollywood. “She is doing it to gain favours and probably some roles,” added Makrana.Meanwhile, protest continues against Padmavati at the Chittorgarh fort. The protesters have started to paste stickers with message seeking ban on the film on every vehicle that passes through the fort. They have also started a campaign for people to put Padmavati pictures as their profile pictures on social media.
