The accused and his associates would lure people on the pretext of providing them jobs with a reputed firm.The kingpin of the racket, identified as Narender alias Gaurav, a resident of Azadpur area, has been arrested. A number of mobile phones and computers, along with documents for the fake company named Smart HR Zone, were recovered from his possession, police said.Gaurva would give vacancy ads in newspapers and then conduct fake interviews. The aspirants were asked to submit a hefty amount as application fee. The gang members would then vanish with the money.The fraud came to light when a sales manager of a reputed limited company registered a complaint at the Delhi Police’s Cyber Cell in northwest district. The complainant stated that some fake call centers were operating in parts of Delhi-NCR and were cheating people in the name of providing them with employment.”The complainant told the police that the accused were calling victims for interviews. They charged a fixed amount as security fee and even gave them offer letters. After receiving the money, the accused would stop taking calls from the candidates and vanish,”a senior police officer said.With the help of technical surveillance and emails received by the victims, police zeroed in on Gaurav and he was arrested. He was found to be working with a consultancy firm and he admitted that he started cheating people because he was facing a financial crunch.”He launched his own fake consultancy firm, named Smart HR Zone, in Pitampura. He hired six tele-callers and gave advertisements for his firm in newspapers and on job portals. When aspirants responded, tele-callers told them about the date, time, and place of interviews,”the officer said.MODUS OPERANDIThe accused would give vacancy ads in newspapers and then conduct fake interviews.
