After discussing their issues in a democratic way, Gujarat Scheduled Caste Federation (GSCF) released Dalit manifesto on Tuesday evening. The manifesto, suggesting reforms of the community, was released by five sanitation female workers at Bhuvaldi village.GSFC is a federation of more than 30 organisations working for Dalit welfare in the state. They formed a federation on November 19 to draft the manifesto.”This manifesto is collective efforts of what we had discussed and think are core issues for the community. We believe in harmony and we don’t want to divide any community. But it is equally true that we want upliftment of Dalit community, enough of suffering,” said Jayesh Solanki, member of GSCD.”The manifesto was released by five women who are sanitation workers which is symbolically significant. There are 26 points we have highlighted in the manifesto which includes free education for Dalits in government as well as private institutions,” added Solanki. They have asked for a separate settlement to fulfil the dream project of Babasaheb Ambedkar. There is also a provision of 33% and 50% of reservation for women, the similar provision we want for SC/ST women. The Dalits organisations across Gujarat want the government to recall all the cases filed against Dalits during different agitations took place during atrocities.”We want a strong law which secures jobs for SC/ST in co-operative sectors and in private sectors. Also, we want to abolish the mentioning of any religion and sub-caste in school leaving certificates and there should mention of only SC/ST only,” remarked Solanki.
