She has been sued for Rs 20-crore defamation by her former boss HN Sathyanarayana Rao for allegedly levelling ‘baseless allegations’ whcih led to the VK Sasikala controversy, reports NDTV. Roopa came into limelight when he blew the lid over how VK Sasikala is enjoying perks of normal life while being confined in Bengaluru jail. In her report, Roopa had said that Sasikala even had her own kitchen inside the prison. Five prison cells were specially reserved for Sasikala, alleged Roopa At that point of time, Roopa was acting as Director General of Police (Prisons). Post massive political ruckus following this report, both Roopa and her boss Rao were shunted out of Bengaluru prison. The state government also ordered a high level probe in this incident. Rao, who retired as Director General of Police recently was asked to go on leave following this massive controversy. Now, he is looking to hit back on Roopa for ‘damaging’ his reputation.
