The Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a man who was instrumental in stealing a vehicle from Mumbai, which was used to ferry cache of arms of a gang. The said gang had looted an arms godown in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and had ferried the arms in the said vehicle which was intercepted by the Nashik police.The arrested has been identified as Sanjay Salukhe, 22, a resident of Chembur. According to the police, a woman had complained to the police that her son’s Bolero jeep which was parked opposite Lashkariya Building in Andheri West on December 5 was stolen. The case was being probed by Amboli police station after there was a delay in registering the case.Inquiry revealed that on December 15, Chandwad Police in Nashik had intercepted a Bolero and nabbed three persons who were ferrying a cache of arms in the saidvehicle.”During the probe of the car theft case Salunkhe’s name cropped up and he was later nabbed from Suman Nagar in Chembur. It was revealed that after the vehicle was stolen, a cavity was made on its roof to conceal weapons. The car was then driven to Banda in UP from where weapons were stolen from a godown,” said a police officer.
