<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>In a major show of strength, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) swayamsevaks, on the occasion of Dussehra, carried out the customary path sanchalan at 80 different locations in Greater Mumbai. Another 40 such path sanchalans are planned for Monday.The RSS also paid homage to the 23 Mumbaikars, who died on Saturday in the stampede at Elphinstone Road station. They later marched with the traditional band and participants youths to octogenarian participated in today’s path sanchalan.RSS media coordinator Pramod Bapat told DNA, “Path Sanchalan on Dussehra is an annual feature. Till last year, it used to take place only at 20 locations in Greater Mumbai. However, this year, it will be at 120 locations — both Sunday and Monday. With increasing numbers joining our ranks since we launched the app, RSS Jodo, and there has been great momentum. Therefore, the attendance of swayamsevaks at today’s path sanchalan has also increased manifold.” He said efforts are being stepped up to appeal to the citizens to join RSS in its nation building work.However, Saturday’s path sanchalan is being considered as a curtain raiser for Hindu Chetna Sangam, being organised on January 7 next year. It will be a mobilisation of RSS swayamsevaks along with people from Mumbai, Konkan and Goa region. Bapat said the idea is to demonstrate the sajjan shakti (strength of good people). “The objective is to mobilize the swayamsevaks and also members of public and update them about RSS activities being held across the country. Senior RSS leaders will address on the occasion. Besides, an exhibition about RSS since its inception will be organised for the occasion,” he added.Another RSS leader said the Hindu Chetna Sangam is an inspiration from the 2016 RSS gathering the called the Shiv Shakti Sangam. On an average, about 1,000 people are likely to attend gathering at each taluka.
