Absconding budding cricketer ‘Dhoni’ held for murder

The Delhi Police have arrested Vijay, a district-level budding cricketer known by the name Dhoni for copying the player’s style, for his involvement in a murder last year. The Delhi University graduate has been evading arrest by changing his locations and cell phone numbers frequently, police said.According to senior police officers, Dhoni was arrested by a team of special staff, Dwarka, led by sub-inspector Naveen Kumar. On July 17 last year, a man was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre with grievous injuries. He was later identified as Aakash, who succumbed to his injuries. His brother Sunny said that local criminals — Vijay alias Dhoni, Vishal, Ajeet, Lakshman, Gaurav, and Deepak — assaulted his brother with iron rods and sticks. During the probe, Dhoni and his brother Vishal managed to abscond while others were nabbed.Dwarka DCP Shibesh Singh said it that it has been ascertained that the criminals were active members of the infamous Gaurav Jhareda gang. Analysis of call details of several numbers linked to the absconding members were scanned to get a clue regarding their whereabouts.”Surveillance was also put in place and several persons were interrogated. The duo had switched off their mobile phones. Raids were conducted at all possible hideouts in Delhi-NCR and Haryana but the accused were constantly changing their locations and mobile numbers. On Sunday, acting on a tip-off that that both the accused would come near the Dwarka Metro station on a scooter to meet someone, a trap was laid and both were nabbed,” the DCP said.Interrogation revealed that Dhoni was fond of cricket and represented school and college teams at district level. He wanted to be a cricketer and was a fan of ex-Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni.”He adopted the cricketer’s and soon was known as Dhoni in the area. But when he could not enter the Delhi State Cricket Team, he joined his brother, who was already an active member of the Gaurav Jhareda gang. In 2014, he and Vishal were arrested with Gaurav Jhareda in a case of attempt to murder in Delhi Cantonment. He along with his associates assaulted and seriously injured one Amit alias Suraj Bhan in July 2016. A few days later, both the accused brutally murdered Aakash using iron rods and sticks with the help of their associates following an argument,” the officer added.

SC quashes case against Dhoni for portraying himself as God

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Supreme Court today quashed a criminal complaint lodged against ace cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an Andhra Pradesh trial court for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by depicting himself as Lord Vishnu on a magazine cover. The apex court also quashed the criminal complaint against the Editor of the magazine and said that the offence under section 295A (hurting religious sentiments) of the IPC is not made out against them as they did not maliciously hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant. A bench comprising Justices Dipak Misra, A M Khanwilkar and M M Shantanagoudar said “it would be a travesty of justice” if the cricketer and the co-accused editor are prosecuted in the case. The instant complaint was lodged against Dhoni and others at a trial court in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. The apex court had on September 5 last year quashed a similar case lodged against Dhoni and others in Karnataka and set aside the High Court order which had refused to stall the proceedings against them. It had also said the trial court in Karnataka did not follow the due procedure in summoning the cricketer and others in the case. Dhoni had filed the Special Leave Petition challenging the Karnataka HC order. The complaint had alleged that Dhoni was seen on the cover of the magazine as Lord Vishnu, holding several things, including a shoe in his hands. Taking cognisance of the complaint, the trial court in Karnataka had directed registration of a case against Dhoni under section 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) along with 34 (common intention) of the IPC. Later, Dhoni was directed to appear before the court after which he moved the high court against the summons issued against him.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

Aadhaar fiasco: After Sakshi’s tweet about MS Dhoni’s details getting leaked, UIDAI blacklists centre for 10 years

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has blacklisted the centre that leaked the Aadhar card receipt of former India cricket captain MS Dhoni. The centre, VLE Mariya Farooqui’s Common Service Centre (CSE) at Ranchi, Jharkhand, has been blacklisted for 10 years, said Ajay Bhushan Pandey, UIDAI CEO, adding that an inquiry was on to figure out how Dhoni’s details were shared. The incident was brought to light on Tuesday after Dhoni’s wife Sakshi tweeted to Information and Broadcast Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad about the breach. The CSC had posted a tweet yesterday through its handle @CSCegov saying “Ace cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his family get their Aadhaar updated at VLE Mariya Farooqui’s CSE at Ranchi, Jharkhand”. Prasad was tagged in the tweet. It included a photograph of the cricketer with a CSC representative and another of his personal details on what appeared to be the Aadhaar website. The tweet with the details was later deleted. When RS Prasad asked whether his tweet divulged any personal information, Sakshi said that Dhoni’s Aadhar form was leaked by CSC’s twitter handle. She wrote: “Sir personal information filled in form is leaked.”Reacting to Sakshi’s allegations, an embarrassed Ravi Shankar Prasad promised to take serious action. He wrote: “Thanks for bringing this to my notice. Sharing personal information is illegal. Serious action will be taken against this.”

MS Dhoni’s Aadhaar info leak: Digvijaya Singh backs Sakshi Dhoni, demands apology from IT minister

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>After Sakshi Dhoni slammed CSC e-governance services and Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday for leaking Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s personal information while the cricketer was registering for Aadhaar card, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh has now asked for an apology from the Information and Technology Minister. In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Digvijaya Singh called the leak ‘shameful’ and asked for an apology. As the debate on Aadhaar rages on, the breach of privacy became an issue for MS Dhoni even before he registered to get UID.CSC e-governance services tweeted images of Dhoni with the official taking his fingerprints and a shot of his application form. IT Minister Prasad also tweeted the same image. The move did not sit well with the cricketer’s wife who pointed out that this is a stark breach of privacy. Prasad quickly responded and promised serious action against people responsible for the breach. The agency involved later deleted the tweet with the image of Dhoni’s application. On Monday, Digvijaya Singh’s fellow party man and senior leader Kapil Sibal had torn into the government for allegedly violating the Supreme Court orders over the use of Aadhaar card. Sitaram Yechury of Communist Party of India, too argued, “This House must return this bill to Lok Sabha with serious concern asking for amendments. This is a financial bully, not a bill.”

Is there any privacy left? Sakshi Dhoni slams I&B Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad over Aadhaar

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>While the debate on Aadhaar has been alive on Twitter, with many claiming that it would be the death knell for privacy, the process of signing up for the ID turned out to be a process in breach of privacy for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This led to a Twitter spat between Information and Broadcast Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Singh Rawat.Earlier in the day, RS Prasad tweeted: “VLE of @CSCegov_ delivers #Aadhaar service to @msdhoni. Legendary cricketer’s #Digital hook (shot).” However, this seemed to anger Sakshi who claimed that MS Dhoni’s personal information was leaked. She wrote: “@rsprasad @CSCegov_ is there any privacy left ??? Information of adhaar card including application is made public property!#disappointed”When RS Prasad asked whether his tweet divulged any personal information, Sakshi said that Dhoni’s Aadhar form was leaked by CSC’s twitter handle. She wrote: “Sir personal information filled in form is leaked.”Reacting to Sakshi’s allegations, an embarrassed Ravi Shankar Prasad promised to take serious action. He wrote: “Thanks for bringing this to my notice. Sharing personal information is illegal. Serious action will be taken against this.”Interestingly, earlier on Monday, the Aadhaar was the subject of debate in Rajya Sabha where CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury slammed the government for making the Aadhaar card mandatory, saying that the Unique Identification scheme is leading to a surveillance state in the country. “I don’t have an Aadhaar card, if you want to make it compulsory, bring a bill. You have a government that doesn’t have the courage to come forward and say ‘I’m abolishing this Constitution,’” Yechury said during a debate over the Finance Bill.Yechury further stated that there were lakhs of complaints against the scheme and it should be removed soon. “There are lakhs of complaints against the scheme, and much like the Matrix, an Aadhaar number can just vanish and you won’t be a citizen anymore,” said Yechury. “Why is the Modi government so keen on building a secret surveillance architecture, devoid of all constitutional safeguards” he asked. Yechury also expressed doubts over how secure the Aadhar data is and which private company can have access to it.Later, Yechury urged that all non-tax matters must be removed from The Finance Bill. “This House must return this bill to Lok Sabha with serious concern asking for amendments. This is a financial bully, not a bill,: said Yechury. Earlier in the day, speaking in the Rajya Sabha, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal tore into the government for allegedly violating the Supreme Court orders over the use of Aadhaar card. Dhoni’s phones recovered, firefighter took them ‘by mistake’

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Former Indian skipper M S Dhoni’s three mobile phones that allegedly went missing during a fire scare at a five star hotel were today recovered from a firefighter. A senior police official said a Delhi Fire Services personnel had “inadvertently” taken away the mobile phones and he did not know whom they belonged to. Dhoni, who was at the Welcome Hotel with the members of the Jharkhand cricket team on March 17, had to evacuate the hotel premises after a fire broke out in a nearby shopping mall. The cricketer’s assistant, Vikas Hasija, and travel manager Sandeep Phogat could not find the phones when they returned to the hotel, following which a complaint was filed and an FIR registered at Dwarka South police station the same day. “My iPhone 6 plus, Reliance LYF and a brand new Lava phone were missing. My assistant had also informed Akash Hans, a hotel staff, who looked into the CCTV footage of the hotel and found nothing,” the cricketer said in his complaint. Police got in touch with the firefighter, who then returned the mobile phones. He took them for safe keeping and was planning to return them, senior officials claimed. They said the firefighter made an error of judgement and did not know whom the mobile phones belonged to. A senior police officer said, “We approached the hotel staff and questioned some of them. Later, we scanned the CCTV footages and found that the firefighter had inadvertently taken away the mobile phones. He returned them claiming he did not know about the owner. It was an error of judgement on his part.” Delhi Police chief spokesperson, Dependra Pathak, however, said they have not given a clean chit to the firefighter and will be verifying his claims before taking any action. Meanwhile, the Hotel in a statement said, “The probe has indicated no involvement of the hotel staff and no FIR has been registered against us. We have fully cooperated with the authorities in their investigation.”(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

#INDvAUS: Still the concerned captain? When MS Dhoni went and inspected the Ranchi pitch

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni today made a surprise visit to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium which will host its maiden Test in less than 10 days’ time.Dhoni was seen having a discussion with the curator as he had a look at the preparations for the crucial game. Jharkhand team sources had earlier said the Ranji captain would head to Bengaluru for the BCCI Awards from Kolkata but headed home and spent time in the stadium.Curator SB Singh however termed it as a routine visit and said it had nothing to do with the upcoming third Test here from March 16-20. “When he’s here, he often visits the stadium for fitness work out and spends long time at the gym. Today was no different. He also saw the wicket and we had an informal discussion. This is not unusual for me,” Singh told PTI. “He has never intervened in pitch preparation in the last four years. Being such a great player, I always look forward to his inputs on the quality of wicket.”The JSCA has prepared three wickets — pitch number four, five and seven — for its debut Test and Singh said all of them will last the distance. “Each of them will behave differently. The team will choose the strip two days before the match. The pitch will suit both the batsmen and bowlers and will definitely last five days.
