Two others have also been arrested in connection with the matter. In April, eight suspected members of Harender alias Heavy’s gang were arrested for allegedly planning to kill the proprietor of Taj Orient Hotel situated in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, following a shootout in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj. During investigation, it was found that one Chander Shekhar (67) and his close aide Shambhu (39) had hatched a plan to kill Shekhar’s elder brother Krishan Kumar Sharma, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh. A dispute had been brewing between Sharma and Shekhar over partition of the business. This dispute led Shekhar to involve Shambhu and then Vijay Naagar, in hatching a conspiracy to eliminate his brother, said the DCP. Shambhu and Naagar then contacted gangster Ravi Roopwas (32) and awarded him a contract of Rs two crore. Several raids were conducted to arrest Shekhar and Shambhu but they kept evading the police. On July 22, Shekhar and Shambhu were arrested from Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh. Roopwas had surrendered in a previous case and had got himself lodged in Dasna Jail. He was arrested by the police here after completing due formalities. Shekhar and his two brothers – Sharma and Naresh Kumar – had jointly started a hotel business in Agra. The hotel business was being managed by Sharma and soon, other business ventures were also started from the profits made by the hotel. Since the entire management of the hotel was in the hands of Sharma, his profile and personal earnings were consolidated. This made Shekhar insecure and envious. When Sharma decided to part with his share in the hotel business, Shekhar thought that his fortunes will vanish in absence of Sharma’s management skills. He hatched a conspiracy to get his brother killed so that he could become the sole owner of the various business ventures, said the officer.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

The election to two wards has been postponed due to the death of candidates. The verdict is expected to reshape the political equations in the country’s power capital. The court of financial commissioner is a quasi-judicial body.In the case, the process server (court official) had submitted a report that one of the respondents no longer resides in the village and had shifted to Kathmandu, but his address there was not known.A mobile phone number belonging to the respondent was provided by the petitioner. The respondent was informed over phone about the summons from the court by the process server and was asked to appear before the court on the appointed day. However, the respondent refused to appear or to provide his address in Kathmandu, when asked.Khemka, a senior Haryana bureaucrat, who also holds the court of financial commissioner to decide disputes related to revenue laws in the State, passed these orders while hearing the partition suit.In this case, Satbir Singh had a dispute with his brothers Ramdiyal and Krishan Kumar over partition of a family property in the village in Hisar district. When the court of the financial commissioner issued notice to both the brothers seeking their replies in the matter, Ramdiyal received the summons but these could not be served to Krishan as he had shifted to Kathmandu. However, when Kumar was contacted over phone he refused to appear or provide his address in Kathmandu, the order mentions.Khemka in his order observed that the modern age is highly mobile due to technological advancements.”The physical address is no longer permanent as before and keeps changing. But electronic mail address and mobile phone number of a person is relatively more permanent than his physical address. The law is not fossilised. Law is a living concept and follows technological advancements. An email address or a mobile phone number is also the address of a person in the present times.”The Court in its order mentioned that Order V Rule 9 (2) of the Civil Procedure Code (CPC) specifies that summons may be sent in such manner as the Court may direct and in Rule 9(3) any other means of transmission is provided. After it was established that the mobile number of Krishan Kumar was active and he was using WhatsApp, Khemka’s court directed that a clear image of the summons notice bearing the seal of the court be sent on his number.”It is, therefore, directed that a clear image of the summons notice bearing the seal of the Court shall be sent to the respondent in Kathmandu through the Whatsapp messenger from a designated mobile phone number and the same shall be treated as proper mode of service as provided in Order V Rule 10 of the CPC.”..A printout of the delivery report of Whatsapp messenger authenticated by the signature of the counsel will be taken as proof of valid service,” Khemka held in his order.

Krishnan even imitated Rajinikant and acted out a dialogue from the movie Kabali. He was happy,” Moola said.”We also spoke about Holi and how Dalits in the country don’t participate in the festival. He told me that he would stay in his room as he had some pending work and would not go out to play Holi,” Moola, a PhD (Sociology) student of JNU said.Jeevanandam, in his complaint to the police, alleged that his son was neither diagnosed with any mental illness nor was he taking any medication for it. “His death has taken place under mysterious circumstances and a thorough probe into it, which is not a suicide, should be carried out. The FIR should also have Schedule Caste(s) and Schedule Tribe(s) Prevention of Atrocity Act,1989, added to the case,” the father said. He also alleged that he was informed of the death by his son’s friend and that he hasn’t received a call from the JNU administration yet. “His tongue wasn’t protruding and his eyelids weren’t droopy either,” he said.An autopsy could not be conducted as Jeevanandam has objected to the panel formed by Sudhir Gupta, the Head of Forensics, AIIMS. The family has demanded that a doctor from Chennai, Karunakaran Mathikiran, be flown in and made a part of the panel. But sources revealed that this demand has been rejected. Later his friends called him out and on getting no response, called police,” he said.JNUSU president and also a member of Left student wing All India Students’ Association (AISA) Mohit Pandey said, “Extremely shocked and sad on the demise of friend Rajini Krish. Met him yesterday. I knew him not only as an activist but also as a brilliant student coming from marginalised community. Great loss for all of us. Condolences to his family, relatives and friends.”JNU administration, however, refrained to give any statement saying they are still trying to get more details about the “unfortunate” incident.Reacting to the suicide, ABVP National Media Convenor Saket Bhaguna said, “Deeply saddened as Rajini Krishna, an M Phil scholar from Centre for Historical Studies, JNU, known to be a resident of Jhelum Hostel has allegedly committed suicide at his friend’s residence in Munirka Vihar just outside JNU campus today.”But however, some of the members from Left student organisations in the JNU started circulating messages that Krishna committed suicide as he was Dalit and was denied quality. They even circulated his last Facebook last post done on March 10 where he quotes a professor and writes, “When equality is denied everything is denied. There is no Equality in M.phil/phd Admission, there is no equality in Viva – voce, there is only denial of equality, denying professor Sukhadeo Thorat’s recommendation, denying Students protest places in Ad – block, denying the education of the Marginals.”The police however clarified that so far there “nothing has been found regarding this incident to be having anything to do with the University”.
