‘Their romance could adversely affects the students’: Teacher couple sacked by private school in Pulwama

A teacher couple working in a private school in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir were sacked on their wedding day with the school management claiming their “romance could adversely affect the students”.Tariq Bhat and Sumaya Bashir, residents of Tral town in Pulwama, were working in Boys’ and Girls’ wings, respectively, of Pampore Muslim Educational Institute for the past several years. They alleged their services were abruptly terminated by the school management on November 30, the day they entered the wedlock. While the principal of the school did not respond to calls for a comment on the sacking, chairman of the school Bashir Masoodi said the duo were relieved from service as they were in a “romantic relationship” before getting married.”They were having romance and it is not good for the 2,000 students of the school and 200 staff members working there. This can adversely affect the students,” Masoodi told PTI.On other queries, he asked the reporter to “visit the school and talk to the principal for it”.The couple claimed that they had an arranged marriage.”Ours was an arranged marriage. We got engaged a few months ago and the entire school management knew about it as Sumaya hosted a party for the staff members soon after the engagement ceremony,” Bhat said.He questioned the school management’s claim of “romantic relationship”, asking why they were not given an opportunity to explain if it were the case.”We both applied for leave to get married almost a month before the wedding day and the school management sanctioned the leave. If we were in a romantic relationship, did they come to know of it only after we announced our wedding plans?” Bhat asked. The couple alleged the school management was “tarnishing” their image. “We have got married which is the right thing to do from which ever perspective one looks at it. We have not sinned or committed a crime,” they said.

In secret conclave, Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Mohammed pledges to step up terror against India, US

The Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group founded by UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar, recently organised a ‘Shohada-e-Kashmir’ conference in Rawalakot to commemorate the martyrdom of several terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.Three militants of JeM – identified as Talha Rasheed (nephew of Maulana Masood Azhar), Bhai Mohammad and Bilal – were killed in the encounter by the Indian security forces on November 6 in Pulwama. The secret conclave was attended by Maulana Talha Saif, younger brother of Maulana Masood Azhar, Maulana Mufti Asghar Khan, Amir JeM, PoK, Mukhtar, father of Bhai Muhammad, one of the killed militants, and many others.Over a thousand JeM cadres attended the event in which slogans against India and the United States were raised. Also readMove to block resolution on Masood Azhar not contradictory to BRICS declaration: China Challenging the democratic countries, including India and the United States, Maulana Talha Saif, in his speech, said, “If someone wants that ‘Fidayeen missions? must stop their attacks then they must stand in front of them like both hands folded.”A senior JeM functionary Saifullah Akhtar, in his speech, said, “JeM cadres will not forget their martyrdom and will continue their mission till it gets completed.”Mukhtar, father of Bhai Muhammad, one of the killed militants, said, “We have been waging a war since for the past 28 years and still asking we had got nothing. But, if you ask from those who are ready to sacrifice their lives for Kashmir then they will tell you that their shedding of blood in Kashmir will not go in vain but it becomes more fruitful. They are doing Jehad for Kashmir but doing it for Allah.”Also readJeM Chief Masood Azhar is a ‘bad guy’, should be called global terrorist: USNaveed Masood Hashmi, a senior JeM functionary from Islamabad, accused Nawaz Sharif for acting against JeM.He said, “Mauland Masood Azhar had prepared hundreds of JeM cadres and sent them Kashmir for the protection of Kashmiri brothers and sisters. But, Nawaz Sharif wanted to arrest them in Punjab.”He added, “Who is enemy of Islam” Nawaz Sharif or Maulana Masood Azhar? Nawaz Sharif is the enemy of Islam and that’ s why we are not getting a victory in Kashmir. Kashmir will get liberated only after the pro-Islamic government is established in Pakistan.”Such gatherings in support of terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir authenticate the Pakistan-based terror outfits to be behind terror activities in India, especially J-K. Masood Azhar nephew among 3 terrorists killed in J&K

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Security forces dealt a blow to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and gunned down its top commander Talha Rashid — nephew of Pathankot attack mastermind Moulana Masood Azhar — and recovered a US-made M4 carbine at Aglar-Kandi village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening.Rashid was among the militants — including Pakistani JeM divisional commander Mohammad Bhai and local Wasim Ahmad Ganai — killed in a swift operation by a joint team of Army, CRPF and police. An Army soldier of 44 Rashtriya Riffles lost his life in the line of duty. The assault rifle is the first such weapon recovered from terrorists. It was smuggled into Kashmir after Pakistan’s Army passed it on to infiltrators for use against security forces.Police sources said Talha had been operating in Pulwama for the last four to five months after he infiltrated into the Valley from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.”For the first time they (JeM) have owned up a Pakistani militant. He (Rashid) is nephew of Moulana Azhar. Now we will take up the matter through proper channels. We request (Pakistan) very firmly, please claim the body and please take the body because they have said that he is a Pakistani nephew of Moulana Masood Azhar”, said Munir Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range. This is the second time this year when any family member of an India’s most wanted has been killed in an encounter in the Valley. On January 19, security forces killed Abu Musaib — nephew of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi — at Hajin village in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The Army said the main feature of the Pulwama operation was the seizure of the rifle. “It is a US-made weapon presently with a lot of Armies of NATO and special forces of Pakistan’s Army. We have reasons to believe that this particular weapon was given by Pakistan’s Army to JeM cadres. This clearly shows the complicity between JeM and Pakistan”, said Major General BS Raju, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Indian Army’s Victor Force.”We have reasons to believe 5 to 10 such weapons could have been brought in by terrorists who infiltrated recently”, said Major General Raju.Meanwhile, the Army paid tributes to its soldier Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh. Singh, 30, had joined the Army in 2004. He was from village Shaujana Rani in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a three-year-old son.

At the time, he visited his family for Navaratri before reporting back to duty in Kashmir. His parents had been looking for a bride for him and had zeroed in on some prospective brides in Uttar Pradesh when they went there for their annual Diwali vacations with family. J&K: Two terrorists killed in encounter in Bandipora’s Hajin, heavy stone pelting underway

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Bandipora’s Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning.Security forces cordoned off the Mir Mohalla village in Hajin area of the district following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there. When the forces were conducting the searches the militants opened fire on them, triggering a gun battle.Reports said that even though the firing was stopped, heavy stone pelting underway in the area.Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Zahir Abbas was also killed in the gunbattle. On October 16, in a crackdown on terror module, the Security forces arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and on Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Jammu and Kashmir.Earlier, two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) top commanders including a prime recruiter in an encounter at Litter village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district were killed. In another encounter, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander was killed in an encounter in Ladoora area of Baramulla.

J&K terrorists’ jilted lovers turn informers

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned, the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir are fast learning to their dismay. Their jilted girlfriends have found a way to hit back, and hard, where it really hurts. These women have been turning in to informers, giving the intelligence agencies vital information, which is immensely helping the forces track down the terrorists. In fact, according to some sources in the security establishment, some of the top terrorists gunned down this year were nailed after their heartbroken lovers became turncoats. The sources further said that the trend was catching up fast, and the forces were now deliberately identifying women who might have been exploited by these womanising terrorists before being abandoned.Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Dujana and Khalid, who headed the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operations in Kashmir, were traced and gunned down earlier this year after forces were tipped off by their lovers.Dujana was trapped in Pulwama in August, after giving the security forces a slip on at least five occasions. He was visiting his wife at the time, but she and other locals were apparently irked with his womanising ways. “His wife and her father decided to share the information, which finally led us to success,” an official said.Similarly Khalid, who was responsible for the recent attack on a Border Security Force camp in Srinagar, was killed last week after his girlfriend tipped off the security forces about his movement.Only sketchy information was available about him after he infiltrated from Pakistan in August last year. He was active in Sopore area but the intelligence agencies knew very little about him.One of his girlfriends, who was upset with his philandering, provided specific details about where he was supposed to meet her. A trap was laid accordingly and he was killed.”These top terrorists were traced because of the information shared by their partners. So, now an effort is being made to win the confidence of these women and their families. It has given us good results as many women have come forward and shared information about their hideouts and movement,” a security officer said.According to sources, most of the top Pakistani terrorists lead debauched lives. The local Kashmiri youth, who are joining the terror ranks, are also getting influenced by this. Many of these terrorists start indoctrinating teenaged girls, before exploiting them.”They have a Robin Hood-like image and young girls get attracted to that. We noticed the trend and started approaching the girls’ families,” an official said. Sometimes, neighbours of these women also help agencies track down the terrorists, sources said.Over 170 terrorists have been killed this year, so far, as compared to 150 last year.

Pakistan using JeM as force multiplier to keep pot boiling in Jammu and Kashmir

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) fidayeens are the new force multipliers of the Pakistan intelligence apparatus to keep the pot boiling in Jammu and Kashmir. A 17-member group of Jaish fidayeens were pushed in from Pir Panjal into Jammu and Kashmir to replenish the militant ranks in July following the drubbing of the cadres in the valley.Sources said the militants later took the Poonch-Shopian route to enter into south Kashmir region where they were distributed to different areas. Three of the fidayeens were killed when they attacked the District Police Lines Pulwama on August 26. Eight security force men —four each from CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police — were killed and six others injured in the encounter.Sources said the highly trained fidayeens had a job cut out to carry out a suicidal attack on the camps and vital installations to boost the morale of the militants operating in Kashmir.”The inputs are these fidayeens (killed on Tuesday) were from the same group. Three of them were eliminated at Pulwama. Things are to be verified. But I think this group infiltrated in the month of July-August from Shakargah side. But we will verify things,” said Munir Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone.Police said most of the fidayeens of this group were killed but still some of them are on the run and may carry the suicidal attack again. “If we make a rough estimate I think they are left with six to seven terrorists who we are looking for,” said Khan. More than 152 militants including top commanders of the Hizbul Mujahedeen and Lashkar-e-Tioba have been eliminated by the security forces this year so far. This has hit the morale of the militants who have gone hiding to avoid being killed.Sensing the trouble, Pakistani security and intelligence agencies have revived Jaish to help raise the morale of militants and keep the pot boiling in Kashmir. “CRPF has neutralised six highly trained and motivated terrorists of Jaish -e- Mohammad within span of 40 days. It is worth to mention that CRPF neutralised three JeM terrorists at DPL Pulwama on August 26, 2017,” said a CRPF spokesmanFounded by Moulana Masood Azhar, one of the three militants released in exchange of passengers of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 in 1999, Jaish-e-Mohammad has been the deadliest group only second to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). But after 2001, security forces had managed to break the back of Jaish by eliminating its top brass including Gazi Baba, the mastermind of the Parliament attack which prompted New Delhi to mobilise Indian army and launch Operation Parakaram.Jaish has been pushed to margins after the security forces blew the lid off the conspiracy to revive the outfit in the north Kashmir last year. First, it was the arrest of Pakistani commander Sadiq Gujjar in February 2016 that hit Pakistan’s plan to revive Jaish.Pakistani handlers later pushed another Jaish commander Abdul Rehman along with four other militants from Machil sector to recruit people in Baramulla. But Rehman too was arrested which hit Pakistan’s plan to revive Jaish. The revival was again visible when security forces killed two of its commanders in Saria Bala locality of Srinagar in May 2016.

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>As security forces gunned down Abu Ismail, architect of the Amarnath terror attack, the conflict between Kashmir terror groups came out in open. The simmering tension between pro-Pakistan United Jihadi Council and pro-Islamic rule Al Qaeda has been going on since May when top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Zakir Musa was named Ameer (chief) of Al Qaeda-linked New Jihadist group ‘Ansar Ghazwat-Ul-Hind.Musa has not only distanced himself from the pro-Pakistan group, but is also seen and heard talking about establishing Sharia rule in Kashmir.Earlier in March, a video was circulated in the Valley in which Musa was seen exhorting the Islamic values.A Guardian report said that the softly-spoken Musa appealed to protesters such as the Pulwama students “not to fall for nationalism”. “I see that many people in Kashmir are engaged in a war of nationalism, which is forbidden in Islam,” he said. The fight in the region should “not be for the sake of Kashmir,” he said. “It should be exclusively for Islam so that Sharia is established here.”Later on July 30, a highly influential Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo appeared at the funeral of one of the two terrorists killed in Pulwama encounter and cautioned people against falling into the Al Qaeda trap.Naikoo asked people not to join those who ‘defame freedom movement’.The security forces are closely watching this rift between the terror groups.“Time will tell, but it is definitely an important shift,” SP Vaid, the director-general of the Jammu and Kashmir police service was quoted as saying by the Guardian.Abu Ismail’s encounter is the latest flashpoint in this ongoing conflict.A Firstpost report said Ismail had replaced Abu Dujana as operational chief in Kashmir after Dujana sided himself with Musa.Hours after the death of Ismail, Lashkar’s Jammu and Kashmir chief Mehmood Shah issued a stern warning to the “informers”.So, is this conflict helping the security forces? This cannot be proven directly, but the way Abu Ismail was killed in a 5-minute gun battle, it shows that the secirity forces had a very specific intel about him.Soon after the encounter, Major General BS Raju, commanding officer of Indian Army’s Victor Force said that they are expecting a vacuum in Lashkar’s foreign leadership.“He (Abu Ismail) was directly responsible for the death of 14 security force personal and eight civilians besides injures to lot of people. We are looking serious deficiencies in their (foreign militant) leadership which should give us more opportunities. We will continue these kinds of operations to neutralise the remnant people which should bring some peace and clam in the Valley.”

India kills five militants in Kashmir – army spokesman

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Indian Army killed five militants on Monday who were trying to enter from Pakistan across a disputed Kashmir frontier, an Indian defence official said. India and Pakistan have been in a confrontation for decades across the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border separating parts of Kashmir held by both countries. “Five terrorists were killed today by the army in the Machil sector of the LoC, where a major infiltration attempt by terrorists has been foiled,” Colonel Rajesh Kalia, a Defence Ministry spokesman, told Reuters. Kalia said weapons had been recovered from the killed militants and that the army’s operations were continuing. He gave no other details. India often accuses Pakistan of infiltrating militants across the LoC to carry out attacks, a charge denied by Islamabad. Earlier, police in Srinagar said that they shot dead a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in a clash in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Unrest has simmered in Kashmir since a popular militant leader was killed just over a year ago, sparking unrest in which more than 90 civilians have died. The household should not be touched or harmed. We request you to help this family. In the end, I want to appeal people not to observe hartal. I do not want people should suffer because of me,” he said.Dujana apparently rejected an offer to surrender made by the security forces minutes before the encounter that led to his killing along with an aide in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.According to a recording of a purported telephonic conversation between Abu Dujana and an unnamed officer of security forces, the LeT militant commander said, “Why should I surrender? My parents were dead for me the day I left them,” he said in the audio recording. When the officer tells him that he must be aware that the conflict in Kashmir “is a game”, Abu Dujana replied “I know the system. I know everything. What can I do, if anyone wants to play a game. I have to tread my own path”.The wanted militant could afford a laugh or two when the officer told him how he has travelled distances to get him.He asked the officer about his well-being, saying it has been years since he heard from him.”When we played ‘chor-sipahi’. Sometimes we are ahead, sometimes you. Today you caught me, congratulations,” he said. The officer responded by saying he was only doing his duty.”I will fulfil my duty,” the militant replied. The officer tells Abu Dujana that no one wants to kill anyone.”That’s okay, but whoever gave you the information wants me dead,” the militant said.”Listen to me, I cannot surrender. I know you have no animosity with me and that you are fulfilling your duty and I am mine. You do your duty and whatever is written in my fate, Allah will do that,” he added. When told by the officer that what he was indulging in was not ‘jihad’, the militant said “Chalo yaar, kya karenge.(friend, what can we do)”.The officer asked the LeT Commander to come out of the house to surrender and make people understand. “That is how this bloodshed will end,” the officer said.”I have never indulged in bloodshed. They know it,” Abu Dujana replied. When the officer told him that Kashmiris will listen to him, the militant disconnected the call.Dujana, believed to be in his late 20s, was killed on Tuesday in a well-planned operation by a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF in Pulwama district of south Kashmir. With inputs from agencies

Mirwaiz condemns DSP’s lynching, says it is outside religion

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Separatist Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today condemned the lynching of a police officer by a mob outside the Jamia Masjid here, saying the “brutal” act was “outside the parameters of our values and religion.” Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Ayub Pandith was stripped naked and stoned to death by a mob last night when he was coming out of the mosque after checking access control. “The incident that happened in Nowhatta (in old Srinagar) outside the historic Jamia Masjid, which has always been a centre of spiritual and moral upliftment, is most unfortunate. “I am deeply disturbed by this brutal act. Mob violence and public lynching is outside the parameters of our values and religion,” said the top priest of Kashmir in a statement. The Mirwaiz, who delivers sermons at the Jamia Masjid every Friday after prayers, said, “it is very important and imperative for us that we do not allow our social fabric to be brutalised and keep our basic values intact.” Earlier, he tweeted: “Deeply disturbed and condemn the brutal act at Nowhatta…. We cannot allow state brutality to snatch our humanity and values.” The chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference said such incidents are “detrimental for our freedom struggle”. “If GOI (Government of India) really wants an end to tragedies in Kashmir, let it initiate steps to address the dispute and it will find the resistance leadership and people most forthwith in joining that endeavour,” he said. He added that, “repeatedly we keep asking the Indian state to address the Kashmir dispute and initiate steps to resolve it so that bloodshed of Kashmiris and those killed at Line of Control (LoC) is stopped but to no avail.” He also attacked the media. “As usual, … media mill has found grist in this sad death to further its propaganda against the resistance leadership and the movement. They are even reporting falsely that when the incident happened I was present in the mosque. I reached the mosque at 12.15 am while the incident had happened before that,” he said. Criticising restriction on the movement of people near the Jamia Masjid imposed by the government yesterday, Mirwaiz said, “for the whole year, Muslims of the Valley wait to offer prayers in Jamia Masjid on this most important last Friday of the holiest month of Ramadan to earn reward and seek forgiveness of their almighty. And even that right has been snatched from us by our oppressors.” Authorities had announced restrictions on movement of people in seven police station areas of the city as a precautionary measure. The restrictions were announced to maintain law and order as separatists had called for protests after Friday prayers against killing of a civilian during protests in Kakapora area of Pulwama District yesterday.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

2,000 more soldiers going to South Kashmir as reinforcements

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Two additional Army battalions — about 2,000 men — have started moving into four troubled South Kashmir districts, being described as the new “ground zero” because of increased militant activity, officials said. With the presence of additional forces in Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama, some army camps in Shopian and Pulwama would be revived, they said. The officials said the forces, being sent as reinforcements, had already started moving to Kashmir and would be posted to some of the more vulnerable areas of the districts. Major General B S Raju, General Officer Command of the Army’s Victor Force, whose area of responsibility is South Kashmir, yesterday surveyed the region. The decision on redeployment was taken after intelligence reports said South Kashmir had turned into a militant hub. Officials said army camps had been set up to help locals who were “possibly intimidated” by the militants. The places where camps are being set up include Lidder in Pulwama, which officials see as the base for militants shuttling between Shopian, Pulwama and Budgam in Central Kashmir. Sources said new camps would be established at Zainpora, on the border of Heff Shremal, and the Khudwani and Nagbal areas which fall in these four districts. The Army has also launched a programme to meet villagers and to talk to them about the need to stay away from counter- insurgency operations, they said. The sources said locals were often herded towards an encounter site by members of militant groups to hamper army operations. “Once a semblance of security is ensured in these areas, people may not follow the diktats,” an official said.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)
