Territorial Army jawan killing: Shiv Sena questions govt claim on fall of terror activities in Kashmir

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Shiv Sena today questioned the government claim that terror activities have come down in Jammu and Kashmir and said terrorists were now killing jawans to create fear among the youth in the Valley.Referring to the killing of Territorial Army jawan Irfan Ahmed, the Sena said it is a “new technique” aimed at demoralising and creating fear among the Kashmiri youth. The Sena said the brutal killings of jawans is a Pakistani game plan.”All this is the ‘Mann ki baat’ of Pakistanis. Will the person, who does his ‘Mann ki baat’ every (month on a) Sunday will realise this?” the Sena questioned, alluding to the radio programme hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.It also said that the release of Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed from detention in Pakistan may give a new lease of life to militancy in the border state.
ALSO READ Shopian | Territorial army jawan, on vacation, killed by terrorists in J&K”Soldier Irfan Ahmad was abducted and killed in Shopian district. Terrorist organisations are adopting this technique to demoralise the Kashmiri youth working in the Army and instill fear amongst them,” the Sena said in an editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.According to the Army, militants abducted and killed the 23-year-old Territorial Army jawan. His bullet-riddled body was found in an orchard in Watmullah Keegam area in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Saturday.
ALSO READ Terrorists kill another off-duty jawan in J&KThe latest killing was part of a technique being adopted by terror outfits to kill Kashmiris who have joined the Army or paramilitary forces, the Marathi daily said.In May this year, Lt Ummer Fayaz was killed in a similar manner and later in September, BSF jawan Ramzan Pare was also killed, the Sena publication said.”The killing of Irfan Ahmad challenges the claims of those who say terrorist activities have reduced in Kashmir. Also, Hafiz Saeed being released from house arrest may give a new lease of life to terrorist activities,” it said.”The government claims 100-150 militants have been killed (this year) in Kashmir and incidents of stone pelting have reduced. At the same time, killings of youth haven’t stopped.Terrorists cannot digest the Kashmiri youth joining the Army to serve the nation,” it added.

OGWs give J&K security forces sleepless nights

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Forget terrorists, it is the army of overground workers (OGWs) that is giving sleepless nights to the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. For every terrorist active in Kashmir, there are nine OGWs lined up by their mentors. According to 2016 Crime Gazette of J&K Police, there are 1,839 OGWs operating in the state, whereas there are only 216 armed terrorists active.Considered to be the backbone of militancy, OGWs are people who are working clandestinely to provide logistics, carry out reconnaissance of the targets, arrange hideouts, help in recruitment. manage finances, and act as guides for the armed terrorists in the state.”OGWs are sustaining militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists are foot soldiers who act on the advice and orders of their mentors and OGWs. If OGWs withdraw their support, terrorists will be sitting ducks. Therefore OGWs have been line up in such a manner that they help and guide the terrorists to our disadvantage,” said a senior police officer. The border area of Handwara has the highest number of OGWs at 360. Jammu, Samba, Leh, and Kargil are terrorist and OGW-free districts. Doda, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, and Poonch are terrorist-free, but there are 125, 75, 174, 21, and 120 OGWs active, respectively. All the 10 districts of the Valley are militancy infested with both terrorists and OGWs working in tandem. Three districts of north Kashmir have the highest number of OGWs to provide support to the terrorists. In fact, north Kashmir is the transit camp for the infiltrators who are distributed to different areas after they sneak in. It is the OGWs who play a vital role in their distribution and in providing logistic support for their sustenance.”We are taking action whenever it is being brought to our notice. OGWs sustain terrorists. Superintendents of police have instructions to identify them and take action,” Dr SP Vaid, Director General of Police, J&K, said.In the last 27 years, about 25,000 youth, including those who had gone to Pakistan to train in arms, have either surrendered or left militancy.Data released by Ministry of Home Affairs reveals that over 40,961 people have been killed in different parts of J&K from 1990 to March 31, 2017.

2 Pakistanis among 4 terrorists involved in Amarnath attack:

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Four terrorists, two of them Pakistanis, are suspected to have been involved in the attack on Amarnath pilgrims in which seven devotees were killed, home ministry officials said today. Quoting intelligence inputs, the officials said Pakistani national and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Ismail was the mastermind of Monday’s attack and he was assisted by another Pakistani and two local militants. A massive manhunt has been launched for the four terrorists, who are also believed to have used two motorcycles to escape from the scene after attacking the pilgrims bus, officials said. They said the Gujarat registered bus, which was attacked, reached at Jammu on July 7 and got registered at Amarnath shrine facilitation centre. Initially, the bus was part of the regular convoy of the pilgrims and travelled together till Baltal. The pilgrims in the bus paid their obeisance at the cave shrine on July 8 and returned. On the way back, the pilgrims left the convoy and drove to Srinagar. The Gujarati pilgrims stayed in Srinagar for two days as tourists. On July 10, around 4:30 PM, they left Srinagar for Katra. The vehicle got punctured at a place 10 km away from Khanabal around 6:30 PM. Then the passengers went down and had food at a roadside eatery. When the bus resumed its journey, it came under attack from the terrorists at Khanabal around 2017 hours. Facing the bullets, the driver of the bus, Salim Sheikh, charged past the area but had to face another group of terrorists after crossing just 75 metres. The driver again did not stop the bus despite facing the terrorist attack for the second time in quick succession. The bus was finally stopped at a police point after a few kilometres and the policemen on duty took the pilgrims to the Anantnag police line where the injured were given first aid before being shifted to a hospital, officials said.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

Even young kids not spared,? Yechury said in a strongly worded Tweet. Yechury in his letter also said that thousands of farmers have committed suicide in last three years. The CPI-M has demanded a law which gives right to farmers to sell their produce at Maximum Support Price (MSP). Yechury tweeted a copy of his letter to the Prime Minister urging him to legislate a law giving farmers the right to sell their produce. Yechury, in his letter, reminded the government of its promise of Maximum Support Price (MSP), that will provide 50% net profit to farmers over their production cost. Drawing his attention to the farmers’ protest that have been taking place across the country, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Yechury asked Prime Minister Modi to pass legislation in the forthcoming monsoon session of parliament to provide profitable MSP to farmers. This comes after the incident in which five farmers were killed in police firing during a protest on June 6 in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh. The farmers in the central state were demanding remunerative prices for their produce and a loan waiver. They were also demanding that they should be given Rs. 50 per litre of milk bought from them as they spend Rs. 37 per litre. Modi calls for blocking funding, weapons for terrorists in

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Describing terrorism as a global menace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the world community to block funding, weapons and communication modes of terrorists, in an apparent reference to Pakistan’s support for Kashmiri militants. “The call of time is that we should rise above specific incidents. Terrorism is the enemy of humankind. All should come together to fight terrorism,” Modi said during a discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). He shared the stage with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of Austria and Moldova. Modi, while noting that the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was present in the gathering, lamented that for 40 years, a resolution is pending before the United Nations regarding definition of terrorism and of those who help terrorists. “Only lip service has been provided. There has been no discussion, nor any decision,” he said. The prime minister said he was glad that Putin had yesterday publicly stated that the resolution would be discussed. In an oblique reference to Pakistan, Modi said terrorists don’t manufacture weapons, but some countries supply guns to them. Similarly, terrorists don’t print currency, but some countries facilitate their financing through money laundering. Terrorists don’t own telecommunications system and social media networks, but some countries help them with that, he said. “Now we should come out of good terrorism, bad terrorism (debate); my terrorist, your terrorist (syndrome). It is an issue of humankind. That’s how we can fight terrorism,” he said. India, he said, has been a victim of cross-border terrorism for 40 years and thousands of innocent citizens have been killed but the world recognized terrorism merely as a law and order problem for many years. Only after 9/11, the world woke up to know how deep terrorists can strike and how much havoc they can wreak, he said. He said terrorism has no boundaries and all countries should fight it collectively. Putin also said that India was facing a serious problem on account of terrorism and it was not an “imaginary thing”. He agreed with Modi that terrorism is a common threat and “that should unite us. We ought to understand what is happening and where it will lead us. We ought to be aware of the danger” of terrorism.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

BHIM-Aadhaar app a tribute to Dr Ambedkar, says Fadnavis

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said the BHIM-Aadhaar pay app for digital payments was a tribute to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for his contribution in the field of economics. It was organised by the social justice department of the state government on the occasion of Buddha Pournima. “In the 20th century, we accepted paper notes with the image of Mahatma Gandhi imprinted on them. The currency was also known by Gandhi’s name. But, in the 21st century, digital currency and transactions have become more important. The BHIM-Aadhaar pay aap introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are a tribute to Dr Ambedkar’s knowledge of economics,” Fadnavis said. “I think Dr Ambedkar was probably the first economist from India, who went abroad and acquired deep knowledge in economics in that period,” Fadnavis said. We have almost forgotten that Dr Ambedkar was also a world class economist. His work in economics is now being implemented by our government at the Centre, he said. Commenting on Ambedkar’s decision to embrace Buddhism, Fadnavis said, “Dr Ambedkar was looking for values like freedom, equality and fraternity, which he found in Buddhism.” Referring to the venue of the event- the Gateway of India- located opposite the Taj Mahal hotel, which had come under the attack on November 26, 2008, Fadnavis said, “It is a coincidence that the Vishwashanti Parishad was taking place right opposite the hotel, which came under attack around ten years back. Terrorists attacked the hotel and tried to win by way of violence…and today, the Vishwashanti Parishad that spreads peace is taking place.”(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

Three people, including two army men and a civilian driver of the troops, were injured. The injured were rushed to the hospital where driver Nazir Ahmad succumbed to his injuries. Though security forces retaliated, the terrorists fled from the spot.Terrorists hiding near the Kellora village opened fired indiscriminately on a private Tata Sumo vehicle with troops on board.”The was an exchange of fire between the returning column (of the army) in Imam Sahib. Operation is under progress”, said Colonel Rajesh Kalia, defence spokesman, Srinagar.Earlier in the day, acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Army, the police and the CRPF cordoned off around 10 sq km in the district. The search operations started in the early hours of the morning.Door-to-door search of houses, a practice stopped in the late 1990s, was reintroduced on Thursday. The troops asked all villagers to assemble in a common area for a search of their homes. There were no casualties. “We do not wish to have any civilian casualty and the measure was therefore required,” said a senior army official.”In terms of manpower and other things, this (operation) is definitely unprecedented. There are many villages, it’s a big patch. We have cordoned off the area on the basis of the information we had,” SP Pani, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir range, told DNA.Though nobody was arrested or killed on Thursday, the motive of the security forces was to break the myth that South Kashmir was not a no-go or liberated zone.Of late, South Kashmir had become a sort of liberated zone where terrorists were operating without fear and making and uploading videos in orchards and jungles.Sources said that the decision to go for a massive anti-militancy operation was taken soon after the Election Commission rescinded the Anantnag parliamentary polls.”We do not react to situations. We have a strategy and work accordingly. We do not get provoked or emotionally charged. We are a professionally trained force and we give professional response,” said Pani.Security forces were deployed in all directions to plug escape routes throughout the day. Several choppers and drones were seen hovering over the area through the day. After the search operations, security forces carried out a ‘reverse sweep’ of the entire region in order to ensure that no terrorist had slipped in after the earlier cordon ended.Official figures show that 104 local youths joined militancy in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016, of whom 59 joined after the killing of Burhan Wani, an LeT leader, on July 8 last year. In 2015, 66 youths joined militancy, compared to 53 in 2014, 16 in 2013 and 21 in 2012.On Thursday, there was not much resistance from the people and no stone-pelting mobs to thwart the operation. “People are cooperating. We did not see much law-and-order problem, barring some minor issues at some places. It was, by and large, peaceful”, said Pani.Sources said that the operation was timed carefully, after terrorist action of looting banks, killing civilians and policemen led to a decline in public support for them. “Terrorists have realised that they do not enjoy full public support and they reacted by killing policemen, snatching their weapons and looting banks. We were not provoked, and, in fact, we waited for the situation to turn in our favour,” said an intelligence officer.Meanwhile, massive student protests rocked Sopore, prompting security forces to fire tear smoke shells. A few students were injured.

Terrorists turn robbers in J&K, loot 3 banks in 24 hours

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Terrorists on Wednesday targeted two banks in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district within a span of two hours and decamped with Rs 6 lakh. In the past 24 hours, terrorists have looted three banks in different parts of South Kashmir. The terrorists first struck the Ellaquai Dehati Bank at Wahibug in Pulwama and looted Rs 4.9 lakh on Wednesday. Two hours later, they barged into the J&K Bank at Nihama and looted Rs 1.3 lakh cash before escaping. On Tuesday, pistol-borne terrorists stormed the Ellaquai Dehati Bank in Kader Yaripora village of Kulgam district and looted over Rs 65,000.Terrorists on Monday attacked a cash van of Jammu and Kashmir Bank and killed seven people, including five policemen and two employees, besides looting four self-loading rifles at Pumai village of Kulgam district. However, there was no cash in the van since it was returning after distributing the money to the branches.”They (terrorists) have been targeting the banks ever since they faced cash crush following demonetization last year. Terrorists require money for so many activities including for buying high-end cellphones,” Rayees Mohommad Bhat, superintendent of police, Pulwama, told DNA.Figures reveal that around 10 banks have been looted since November last year. These include four in Pulwama, two in Shopian, two in Kulgam, one each in Budgam and Kishtwar.Last year’s demonetization has hit terrorists and their associates hard and they are facing cash crunch.Sources said the terrorists require huge money to pay their cadres and buying logistics.”Earlier, only Lashkar-e-Toiba was involved in looting banks, but now Hizbul Mujhadeen too is resorting to it to feed their cadres.Last month, two top terrorists of Lashkar-e-Tioba were killed in Padgampora village of Budgam district. One of the terrorists Abu Ali, a Pakistan national, was the prime accused of the bank robberies in Pulwama district. It is not only the banks which are on the radar of the militants in south Kashmir. For the last few months militants have been on looting spree of the weapons of policemen to replenish their depleting arsenal.Meanwhile, terrorists on Tuesday night entered the district court complex Shopian and disarmed five policemen before decamping with four INSAS and one AK 47 rifles. All the five cops have been suspended by the police.”Definitely they are falling short of weapon. When they snatch a weapon they do not have ammunition. They snatch a weapon which may carry one magazine. Once they use the bullets, the weapon becomes useless. They need ammunition and they are trying to get better weapons. For example if they looted SLR last year, they would try to get AK 47 this year,” said Rayees.Seemingly rattled by the bank looting, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti appealed the people particularly youth to help and support the government to stop this death and destruction.”What are we doing? We need to think what we are achieving by this robbery and bloodbath. There can’t be misfortune than this. There can’t be misfortune than this. I appeal all people particularly the youth and children that J&K I s yours and work for its betterment and help us in stopping this destruction,” said Mehbooba.

Terrorists attack Kashmir army camp, kill 3 soldiers

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>A group of heavily armed fidayeens (suicide bombers) stormed into the highly fortified army garrison and launched a Uri-style attack, leaving three soldiers, including an officer, dead and five others injured at Panzgam village near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday. Two terrorists were gunned down while the third managed to escape after suffering injuries in the 35-minute-long operation. The army has recovered three AK 47 rifles, nine magazines, one under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), three UBGL grenades, three hand grenades, two radio sets, maps and food items. The hero of the operation was 26-year-old Captain Ayush Yadav of Kanpur, who stood like a rock to stop the terrorists from entering the living area of the garrison.“Yadav was martyred when he tried to stop the terrorists from entering the living area,” said Colonel Surabh Joshi. The encounter started at 4.30 am, when the terrorists entered the garrison from the rear side by cutting two layers of the barbed wire fence. However, the alert sentry immediately fired at the terrorists. Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the garrison rushed to the spot and fired from all directions, cornering the terrorists in one place. “The QRT started effective and heavy fire, forcing one terrorist to flee,” said Colonel Joshi.Situated on the plateau, the strategically placed garrison houses artillery units and other formations. Located just 10 km from the LoC, this area has is a favorite infiltration route for terrorists.“Throughout the operation, no terrorist was able to enter the living area. Recovery of an additional AK 47 rifle indicated the presence of a third terrorist. He was injured and left his weapon,” he said.“The operation was over in minimum time. It looks like that they were foreign terrorists. The hunt is on for the third,” said JoshiBesides Captain Yadav, two other soldiers were also killed in the gunfight while five suffered injuries. The slain soldiers have been identified as 46-year-old Subaidar Bhoop Singh Gujjar and 38-year- old Naik Bhoota Venkata Ramanna. Top PDP leader shot dead in J&K

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Hours after Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti batted for talks with separatists in her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, heavily-armed terrorists assassinated senior leader of her People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Abdul Gani Dar in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.Dar, Pulwama district president of PDP, was shot at when he was travelling in his car on the Pinglina-Poho road. Police said terrorists waylaid his car near Pinglina and fired at him from point-blank range, injuring him grievously. Dar was immediately shifted to a hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed.“They stopped him in the middle of the road. The rest of things will be clear once the investigation is done,” Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, told DNA.What added another dimension to the case was that Dar, an advocate by profession, was accompanied by his Personal Security Officer and a driver from the security wing of J&K police but they were not carrying any weapons.“He was accompanied by one PSO and a driver from the security wing. They might not have been carrying weapons. We are investigating every aspect of the case,” said Bhat.Mehbooba, in her meeting with PM Modi earlier in the day, had strongly advocated talks with Hurriyat leadership on the lines of Vajpayee regime.Dar had unsuccessfully contested the 2008 assembly election from Rajpora constituency. However, before 2014 assembly polls, he joined PDP and rose to the post of district president of the party.A few years back, Dar had escaped a bid on his life when terrorists tried to storm his house in a bid to assassinate him at Rahmoo village of Pulwama district. However, his security guards opened fire, killing two terrorists. This time, however, luck ran out and he was killed by the ultras. Police sources said the terrorists probably knew his travel plans and might have been chasing him. A close associate of PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Dar was regarded as one of the most respected leaders of the party in south Kashmir. “It is a huge personal and emotional loss for me and the party. He has been like a family for us. Mufti Sahab knew him from Congress days. He joined PDP in 2014 and has been one of the finest leaders in Pulwama,” said Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, president of youth wing of PDP.Condemning the killing in the strongest terms, main opposition party National Conference (NC) said Dar’s assassination was yet another reflection of the alarming state of affairs in the state. “While Mufti goes around begging from office to office in New Delhi to save her government, lives are being lost in Kashmir and alienation is at an all-time high. She should introspect and resign without any further delay,” said Junaid Azim Mattu, NC spokesperson.Fourth killing in last eight daysAssassination of Dar is the fourth killing in the last eight days in Kashmir. Terrorists had earlier killed PDP worker Bashir Ahmad Dar, 46, and injured his cousin Altaf Ahmad in Qasabayar village in Pulwama on April 15. A day later they killed Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, an advocate by profession and close relative of National Conference leader in Shopian district. On the same day they entered the house of Rashid Billa, a former government militia man, and shot him dead in Bandipora district.

J&K rattled as terrorists kill three within 24 hours

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Terrorists sent a chilling reminder to the Mehbooba Mufti government when they carried out three killings — two of political workers and one of a former counter-insurgent — in the last 24 hours across the restive Kashmir Valley.Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, an advocate by profession, was killed when terrorists fired at him at South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday evening. They later entered the house of Rashid Billa, a former government militia man and Ikhwan commander, and fired indiscriminately at him, killing him on the spot at Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandiproa district. Ikhwan, a counter-insurgent group of surrendered militants, was created by the armed forces in the early ’90s to help in the fight against terror. Later, some of them started working with the police.“Terrorists barged into Billa’s home and shot him dead. He had no security at his home,” Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bandipora, told DNA.A massive security cordon has been put in place and search operations have been launched to hunt down the terrorists responsible for the killing of the former government militia men. Billa was among the few top counter-insurgents who had survived the terror onslaught. This is the third major assassination that has rocked the Valley in the last 24 hours. Bashir Ahmad Dar, 46, was killed and Altaf Ahmad, 47, was injured when militants fired indiscriminately at them near Qasabayar village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday night.

BRICS should make more efforts to end terrorism: Andhra CM

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today called upon the BRICS member-nations to “put more efforts” to end terrorism and encourage peace. He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day conference being attended by special envoys of the five-nation economic bloc. A senior official of the India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which is organising the event, said the meeting primarily focused on West Asia. “The BRICS nations are discussing the problem areas in countries like Iraq, Yemen and Libya, how terrorism has been impacting them and other nations and the Middle-East (West Asia) peace process. “The deliberations will continue tomorrow as well after which we will come out with our observations, the MEA official told(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

Gaikwad fly ban issue: Airline co’s behaving like ‘goons’,

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Shiv Sena today said airline companies were behaving like “goons” by letting terrorists take flights but imposing restrictions on the common man as it remained defiant on domestic airlines’ blanket ban on its MP Ravindra Gaikwad. The Shiv Sena MPs, ahead of their meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on the fly ban issue, said that dictatorship has not yet started in the country and asked whether Air India will first tender an apology to the MP as they had started misbehaving first. “What has he (Gaikwad) done? The behaviour of the airline companies is like mafia and goons. In your companies, what is happening under your chair, you should see that. I would not say much as we are now going to meet the Lok Sabha speaker. “But an FIR has been lodged against the MP. The MP has also lodged an FIR. The investigation is going on,” party leader Sanjay Raut told reporters outside the Parliament. Asked whether there should be a fly ban on Gaikwad, he said, “There should not be a fly ban on him. Is he a terrorist? Terrorists, underworld dons, corrupt people can fly in your airlines, but an MP, who is a common man, he would not fly. “And moreover, the FIR has been lodged and the investigation is not yet complete. Who has done what, it will only be clear after the completion of the investigation. In this country, till now, dictatorship has not yet started. If they are doing it under pressure from someone, this pressure will also not work for long,” he said. State carrier Air India had recently barred Gaikwad, who had allegedly assaulted its staffer, from its flights and even cancelled his return ticket to Pune from Delhi. Raut said that during the meeting, the MPs will tell the Speaker that democracy is still there in this country and if such dictatorship continues, “there will be one day, when these airlines will ground the Prime Minister as well as the Lok Sabha speaker.” “I will not speak much now. I will open up facts about the misdeeds (kala chitta kholunga) of these airline company owners. Who has relationship with whom in Dubai, Pakistan, whose money is travelling from one destination to the other, I will come out with it,” he said. Asked whether Gaikwad should apologise, Raut said, “Will Air India apologise? Let them start. Who started misbehaviour first. The airline company started it,” he said. Another party MP Shivaji Patil said that the inquiry should be conducted “freely and fairly” to determine who is at fault, whether Air India staff or the MP. “We do not want to shield anybody,” he said before going into the meeting. Asked about his meeting with Jayant Sinha earlier, the MP said, “He (Sinha) has assured that he will try his best to lift the ban particularly for the member to attend the Parliament proceedings. “He told us that efforts were on to find out a way out of the situation. The party has not asked Gaikwad to stay away from Parliament.” Another MP Shrirang Barne said that the statements of both the sides should be heard as a case has been lodged on the issue. “I will not support the mistake which Gaikwad did, but being an MP, he too has some right,” he said.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

‘Kashmiri voters determined to defy diktats of terrorists’

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Kashmiri voters are determined to “defy the diktats” of terrorists, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said, stressing that the terrorists tend to create volatile atmosphere ahead of polls. South Kashmir will hold by-elections in two parliamentary constituencies – Srinagar and Anantnag – next month. The minister’s comments came as three civilians were killed in action by security forces against protesters near an encounter site in Budgam district in Kashmir. The anti-militancy operation ended with the killing of the lone militant. “On the eve of these by-elections, terorists and their supporters tend to create such kind of atmosphere but I am sure the common voters in Kashmir which comprise largely of the young voters are determined to defy the diktats of terrorists, the promoters of terrorism and become a part of India’s mainstream healthy democracy,” Singh said. Three civilians – all young men in their twenties – were killed while 18 others were injured in security forces’ action against a large number of protesters who pelted stones at the security personnel allegedly in a vain bid to help the holed up militant escape. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Durbugh area of Chadoora in the early hours today following information about the presence of militants in the area. The search operation turned into a gun battle after the militant opened fire on security forces.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

JK no car tries to run over cops in Pathankot; search launched

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>A search operation was today launched in Punjab’s Pathankot district after a car bearing the registration number of Jammu and Kashmir allegedly tried to run over police personnel on patrol duty. The patrol party of the Pathankot police tried to stop the silver-coloured Maruti Alto K-10 at a check barrier in Sujanpur but the occupants tried to run over the cops, Pathankot SSP, Nilambari Jagdalay Vijay said. She said the occupants, believed to be 4-5 in number, escaped and the vehicle was found abandoned at Badrali village during the search operation. “We have registered an FIR against unknown accused under relevant provisions of the law,” Nilambari said. She said the police was questioning the locals of the area where the car was found. “Nothing suspicious has been found from the search of the car. The security agencies are on the hunt to arrest the accused,” she said. Last year, occupants of a black Maruti Alto car had abandoned their vehicle near Bhagwal village in Pathankot, which is close to the Indo-Pak international border, and escaped on foot after the villagers had tried to stop the vehicle. Terrorists had sneaked in from across the border and attacked the Pathankot air base on the intervening night of January 1-2 last year, while Dinanagar in adjoining Gurdaspur district was targeted by terrorists on July 27, 2015. The Pathankot terror attack had claimed the lives of seven security personnel, while four terrorists were killed in the incident. BSF thwarts terrorists’ infiltration bid across IB at in Samba

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The BSF today said it averted an infiltration bid from across the Indo-Pak International Border (IB) as terrorists fired gunshots and hurled grenades at the force’s post in the Samba sector here. Officials of the border guarding force had earlier called the incident, that took place around 3:30 PM, a ceasefire violation along the IB but as the details of the report came in, it was found to be an infiltration bid by armed terrorists. They said “heavy volume” of fire from automatic weapons was pounded and at least three grenades were lobbed at the Border Security Force post ‘Katao’ in the Samba sector. They said the “ferocious stand off” was retaliated by the troops. They said a group of terrorists reached close to the IB after taking advantage of “undulating ground and thick wild growth” across the border. The border post is located near the Bobiyan post, which has been targeted by Pakistan forces a number of times, they said. “BSF troops very narrowly escaped from fierce grenade attacks of terrorists,” a senior official said.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)

Reveal how many soldiers died post note ban, Shiv Sena asks Centre

<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The Shiv Sena has asked the Union government to reveal how many soldiers died at the borders post demonetization, in an apparent bid to rubbish the Centre’s claim that terror funding has been checked with the note ban exercise. Also, taking exception to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statements crediting the RSS teachings for surgical strike across the LoC last year, it said the Army should not be dragged into politics. The Sena said that the yesterday’s terror attack on General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) camp in Akhnoor sector of Jammu in which three civilian workers were killed, proves that demonetization has not deterred the terrorists as they continue with their activities without any hindrance.”Terrorists once used to attack public places, but are now directly targeting Army bases and killing jawans. Should this be considered a change? Thwarting terror attacks was one of the main reasons cited for demonetization. But terrorist attacks continue unabated even at places in Manipur,” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said.”Last year, 60 jawans were martyred while the number stood at 32 and 33 in 2014 and 2015, respectively. How can we believe that these are the signs that Pakistan is being reigned in? Nobody should drag the Army in the muck of politics,” it said.”Manohar Parrikar credited the RSS teachings for the surgical strike on Pakistan and during campaigning for the polls in UP, the BJP has taken all credit for the strike attributing nothing to the Army,” the Sena said.”Demonetization has become more of a political issue than one which is supposed to hold national importance. The number of deaths of soldiers post demonetization should be released and politics over the scrapping decision should be stopped,” it further said. The Sena also said that if BJP has the courage, it should implement the uniform civil code, build a Ram temple in Ayodhya and scrap Article 370 of the Constitution.
